Pretty sure Trump had placed the toughest possible sanctions on Venezuela.

If the US wants to slow the flow of immigration from Central America, crushing the economy of CA nations is extremely counterproductive. Sanctions have become pretty much the international equivalent of virtue signaling. In as many cases as not they do more harm than good.

Consult your doctor if it lasts for more than 4 hours

Here's the opening for Trump to run against Kamala as the far left socialist who paved the way for her comrade to steal the election in Venezuela, lecturing everyone about democracy while she herself ignored the democratic will of her party's own primary voters to steal the nomination from the sitting President. You watch.

So what options do we have outside of sanction to remove this disctorship?

The marines, fund an insurgency, black ops assassination. Not real good are they? But that's the way the world really is. Most of the time there are no good options, but that's still a poor reason to resort to counter-productive action just to make yourself feel good.

(And just to correct myself, Ven is of course SA and not CA but the distinction is immaterial here.)

My cousin was a marine who was killed in Beruit. That deff did not work.

It was 40 plus years ago but thanks. Outside of sanctions what recourse do we have to remove Maduro?

Who knows? My other question would be whether we have the intelligence and foreign service capabilities to recognize, act, formulate policy, if some kind of option presents itself.

We need Martin Landau and Barbara Baines. 😂.   Where the hell did they go? Did they think the world order didn’t need them “fixing” ****?

They retired long ago. Replaced by Tom Cruise. I'm not sure he's up to the task.

Personally I was thinking about trying to lure Gabriel Allon out of retirement now that he's not part of Israeli Counter Intelligence.

I wonder why Biden thought it was a good idea to remove sanctions when they did? And them reinstate them? All that did was give Maduro to seel enough oil help his regime hold on?

Biden lifted some of the sanctions when folks started whining about gas prices in 2023.

He reinstated them in April of this year when the dictator welched on his promises.

Why did we feel we could ever trust him?

Why do you feel you should trust Trump

So biden trusted Maduro because people whined about gas prices instead of going to an Ally to find more oil. That rolls back into if I trust Trump? Was he the oil broker or something?

It is amazing that we are at the end of Bidens 4 year term and everything is still Trumps fault.  I really wish I could take a job, then after four years just turn around and say none of it was my fault I couldn't fix it. So blame tha last guy. We wonder why people not just MAGA feel like we were better off four years ago and are going to hold their nose and vote for him.
