I guess they used Hurter as much as they felt comfortable using him with the future in mind which is a rational decision. Hopefully we can get to Soto.

People will dismiss it because it’s combined, but get used to it because the ship has sailed. What I’ll be interested to see, if this happens, is whether all of a sudden everyone is going to be talking about the Tigers’ pitching strategy of openers, bulk relievers, and matchup specialists.

Maybe MLB will find a rule to stop it. Hope not. Too many rules already.
