Last year, my boss was trying to tell me the Lions were a shoo-in for the division championship and were all but guaranteed to get back to the NFC championship game and probably Super Bowl. I thought of Dan Marino and how people said he would be back and win a bunch of Super Bowls. It just is never that linear and simple. Players regress, injuries happen, and the other teams are trying to win too. Plus, what are the Tigers going to do to add talent in the off season? When are they going to trade Skubal? Too many variables to predict success for a marginal team. Quote
lordstanley Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Sox get out of a jam. Still 1-0 Boston going to the bottom of the 6th. Quote

In 2016, wasn’t hard to see that the Wings and Tigers were going to be worse the next 5 years than they had been the previous 5 years. Similarly, I am certain that 2024-2028 for the Wings and Tigers will be better than 2019-2023 and that the Lions should be contenders throughout this period. Quote

Jobe may pitch in Detroit next year. It's good to use caution but there's always confidence. Harris appears to be building this team to be good for several years. As for the Lions? We don't want the answer to what teams who lose the NFC Championship game do the next season. It's not pretty. Quote

They had a real nice trend going from 2018 to 2021, were supposedly going to be the team of a decade, and promptly sank like a rock. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.... Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Every team has games like this, we’re just not used to it lately, but what’s important is how they come back tomorrow. We’ve been living in a rarefied atmosphere. But this is one game. I don’t think they’re throwing in the towel. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I was hoping Riley would pull a rabbit out of the hat on that at bat. Quote
MeanJim Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I'm hoping the Tigers get the "suck" out of their system tonight, and go back to being that good exciting team they've been for the last month+. Great time for Maeda's final appearance. Quote
