I suppose if they don't want to pay to keep him, for best value return they should move him when the receiving team still has the year of control, but that has to be an off-season deal. Quote
SoCalTiger Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Just enjoy and benefit from the next two years of Skubal and then evaluate resigning him during his free agency. No need to pay BIG $$$ for any pitchers the way Fetter and Company get performance from pitchers. Sign/Extend Riley Greene so we have an excellent everyday player and face of the franchise. Quote

The chances that we move Skubal for prospects while we are a playoff contender is exactly zero. Quote
Edman85 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 I tweeted this yesterday but I noticed Meadows doesn't take a direct route to the ball when robbing homers. He does what Olympic high jumpers do and take a cercuitous route to allow themselves to jump higher. What I am curious about is if this is something he has always done, or if it is something that has been coached into him, perhaps after analysis by the nascent biomechanics department. 1 Quote

I'd check out the CBA. The answer is probably in there. Quote

In the Have a Seat podcast, Meadows compared his approach catching the ball at the fence to an alleyoop pass in basketball. He also said his fielding before the big leagues was "lackadaisical" but Lombard said he looked terrible and encouraged him to get better jumps. He used the first step of tennis players as an example to help him improve. 2 Quote

Twins were a top contender when they traded Santana and went on to win the division twice. Which is sort of a cautionary tale either way since they got nada back for him even though he was under contract for the full season. They might as well has kept him for 2008 and let him walk for nothing for all they got out of Humber, Gomez, et all. Quote
