JackMorrisStache Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Just now, lordstanley said: Must be depressing to be a Twins fan sitting in the stands approaching 11pm local time, having invested 13 innings into it, seeing the Twins fall 3 runs down with season on life support. They have been the anti-Tigers of late…. and I love it! Quote
chasfh Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 McCaughan has the stat line of a guy who can easily give up three runs. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Twins are in jeopardy of losing 2 out of 3 against a terrible Miami team, at home. They're done, even if they come back. They've used their entire BP this game. And Burnes pitched for Baltimore and their BP gave up 9 runs! Take the over in the Twins-Orioles game tomorrow Quote

chasfh Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 That wacky groundout by Correa to end this crazy game is exactly how a 100-loss team wins games! 😂 1 Quote

And Burnes pitched so they won't have him this series. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 It's OVER. I thought I was going to have to make another pot of coffee for an all-nighter. 1 Quote
chasfh Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Also, thank you, Derek Hill, for the catch that saved the game that got us to a magic number of one. Quote
lordstanley Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 We saw some really bad baseball in extra innings tonight. Marlins almost blew the 1st and 3rd outs of the 13th. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Yee-haw....Twins going into the clubhouse, making vacation plans! Quote
Tigermojo Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Tigers have a chance to celebrate on the field if they win tomorrow. Quote
chasfh Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 There’s no other way to put it: this is all magic. Quote

lordstanley Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 (edited) So six events - three CWS:Det and three Bal:Min - would need to go against the Tigers for the Tigers to miss the playoffs now. By my calc, even if the outcome of each of those events was a 50/50 chance, I think there'd be only a 1 in 64 chance of the Tigers missing. And a CWS @ Det event is better than a 50/50 coin flip for the Tigers. Edited September 27, 2024 by lordstanley Quote

Then again, if you had calculated the probability of the Tigers winning 85 or more on August 2 I'm going to guess it would have been worse than 1/64. Never tell me the odds! 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 The Tigers are going to go all Lawrence of Arabia on the White Sox and take no prisoners. You can book it. 2 Quote
