Heck, Vierling even played “out of position” at 1B, his first time there this season. Mize out of the bullpen. The whole of this team is truly greater than the sum of its parts. I really admire these guys right now. Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I turned on the Marlins Twins game and initially it was on the Twins feed and their announcers, bless their soul, were so excited because they had a runner on first with no outs. HA! It didn’t matter. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 The twins right now an inning later are threatening in the 7th, with runners on second and third and two outs down three runs. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Now it’s 4–2 twins they just scored a run on an infield single. Still two out. Quote
Jim Cowan Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Those good teams from the previous decade, they were fun to watch especially JD and Miggy, but I never really got emotionally invested in them. It was different from 68 and 84, the cores of those teams were guys who had played in the Tigers' minor league system. This team feels more like 68 and 84, so many of the key players spent time at Erie and Toledo. I guess there is one key difference, the 68 and 84 teams had homegrown players who were already big stars, and on this team you would say "not yet but fingers crossed for a few of them". 1 Quote

lordstanley Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Twins have 1st and 3rd one out after a liner off the wall. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Tie game. God I hate the Marlins. I've always hated the stupid Marlins. Stupid team, stupid logo, stupid stadium. Quote
lordstanley Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 All because the Marlins couldn’t catch a foul popup on a 3-2 count. 1 1 Quote
Tigeraholic1 Posted September 27, 2024 Author Posted September 27, 2024 I don’t think Marlins have the drive to win this one now. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 A lot of Tiger fans seem to think that the Tigers beating the White Sox is automatic. I disagree and I'm a little nervous about how some think it's 2 automatic wins this weekend. It is not. White Sox are playing desperately to avoid 121 losses. Granted, the Tigers are better than the Angels. 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 The moral of this story is that we can’t expect anyone else to do, what only our own team is able to accomplish. 1 Quote

gehringer_2 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Fish get the lead-off man on in the top of the 9th, put in a pinch runner, and he gets thrown out. Quote
KL2 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Minnesota did use up a lot of bullpen bullets tonight though. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I feel like a Peeping Tom watching another team on TV and rooting for them. 1 Quote

Yes, we are. 2003 Tigers were destined to break the 120 barrier and won 5 out of 6 at the end to avoid it. Don't take anything for granted. 2009: Clinch Day (Thursday day game) - all the Tigers had to do to clinch was beat the Twins. They lost and then lost 2 to the White Sox (Miggy had to be bailed out of jail by Dave Dombrowski Friday night, then he played with a hangover, if you remember that disaster - and Leyland botched the rotation)., They had to win the last game just to get to a tiebreaker. Anything can happen. Quote
