Motor City Sonics Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 The clinching game I was at was 1987. Tanana blanked the Blue Jays 1-0 as the Tigers completed a come-from-behind sweep of the Blue Jays -- all 1-run games. I went to all 3 of those games (and 2 earlier in the week). Bleacher tickets. Affordable. Mid bleachers, because of the overhang couldn't even see Larry Herndon's home run (the only run of the game). What a weekend Friday - Scott Lusader made a full-stretch diving catch to save a run or two Saturday. Jim Walewander scored the winning run from second on a base hit Sunday - Last out - meek grounder to Tanana who flipped it to Darrell Evans for the last out Quote
Tigermojo Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Let's give the Sux 122 just so their record is harder for anyone to break. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Who will be looking for managers next season Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds (speculation on the rest) Minnesota Twins - after that collapse......... Toronto Blue Jays - they were supposed to challenge Miami Marlins - not Skip's fault Free Skip Colorado Rockies - I find it hard to believe that Bud Black wants another year of this. The A's - Did Mark Kotsay compliment the fans in Oakland? Fisher will make him pay. Dear all of those teams, Chris Fetter is a terrible guy. He never showers, he makes strange animal-like noises when he eats, he picks his nose constantly and has cooties. You absolutely don't want to hire him. Ewwww. Tigers just keep him around because they feel sorry for him. Edited September 29, 2024 by Motor City Sonics Quote

Time to educate them! Did Chas just describe the demographic particulars of the MLB target audience these days? And they’re winning. Quote

chasfh Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 With his being the bulk guy today, looks like Kenta Maeda is definitely out for at least the wild card round. I feel bad for the guy, but hey, gotta put together the winningest team we can. Quote
chasfh Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 You know, I hope the Tigers don’t treat this like a house money game. I think it does matter, at least on the margins, whether we go to Houston or Baltimore. 2 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Maeda needs to go to 100 pitches today regardless of score and then be released tomorrow Quote
lordstanley Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Maeda has had all the chances in the world. I don’t feel bad for him. Quote

I suspect he’s done for this season, but they’ll likely bring him back next season to see if he can pull a Frank Tanana/Kenny Rogers season. Quote

No. Just a very apathetic way to end the season getting hosed perhaps the worst team in history. Like, where's that fire that was there on Friday and before. Who wants to go into the playoffs with this attitude 🙄 Quote

I feel bad for him because he was signed to come here and help make us respectable, and now the team is making the playoffs in spite of him, and that has to weigh on his psyche some. I would wish something like that only on bad people. Edited September 29, 2024 by chasfh 1 Quote
chasfh Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 And now here comes Casey Mize. Looks like he might not be on the Wild Card roster, either. Quote

I would wish something like that only on bad people. He seems like an awesome guy and is definitely a good teammate to take ownership of his struggles and accept the demotion to the bullpen. However, from a competitive standpoint, I see no justification in keeping him for next year. We already have 5-7 better options for SP, plus an additional 4-5 better options for long relief in the system. Its time to let a newly fledgling franchise take chances on bounce back arms and for us to start moving forward with our youth. Quote
