So glad I was off today & had the chance to watch this.
Enjoyed hanging in the game thread, like I used to do eons ago. 😁

Good to have you! Matinee games in October do seem to be a bonding experience.

I'm wondering whether there's someone too quick on the trigger back in Southfield or whether Dan has a "button" and can get a bit too aggressive.

Here’s a fuller call now.

Would Holton have been mandated to stay in for atleast another batter if he started the 9th? That's the only explanation I can think of for Hinch not atleast having him face Alvarez. Oh well didn't end up mattering in the end but curious minds like me still would like to know.

Royals win the Ragans-Burnes pitchers’ duel 1-0.
9 straight post season losses for Baltimore dating back to 2014. Last playoff win was when they eliminated the Tigers that year.

Just heard that. Wow! That’s an ugly streak.

I just read that this was the Astros 98th postseason game since 2017. I guess with all the extra teams being added that leads to more possible games each year but I still found that number pretty wild.

That 9th was rough to listen to in stop-and-go traffic driving home from work.

Fortunately, I wasn’t in traffic. I’m at my friend’s place in the West Mountains of Central Idaho so I muted mlb radio and simply watched pitch by pitch in the at bat app which lessened some of the angst.

This makes me gut sick.  He’s a realtor who subscribes to the terrible TV above the fireplace taste consensus.

Randazzo was unusually bad for a playoff selected umpire. Strike zone was all over the place and he absolutely took the Tigers out in the 5th.

Good to see them take 6 walks. At least some of the guys were not over-anxious at the plate.

Was not impressed by ABC's broadcast. Too much time spent at pointless camera shots and at least in the mix I was getting via ATT, they kept letting the booth get buried under the crowd, even when the crowd wasn't doing all that much. Kurtjian was the only one of the three who knew anything about the Tiger team so the broadcast ended up having an Astro's home feel just because Kay and Frazier know enough about the Astros players to talk a little about them.

That’s what’s so different about the way Apple TV has covered the Tigers this year. Their broadcasting crew seemed to actually know stuff about the team that we talk about and since we’re geniuses, they talk about good stuff.  Of course I’m using the term “we“ rather loosely and by in including myself in the “genius category“ I do this in jest.

I thought one of them kept calling Vest, "West".

Yeah I couldn't remember if there were any rule changes for playoff baseball or if you were able to get around that 3 batter minimum if you pitched into the next inning.

IIRC they do drop the extra inning runner in the playoffs - can't think of anything else
