Figured maybe a 5-second delay or so from people in the ballpark. I'd bring my radio to the game and it would be described exactly the same time I was seeing it. Now? My tv feed was 20 seconds behind the MLB At Bat radio feed. The MLB app was showing pitch results about 2 seconds before I heard the radio feed. The Canadian TV stations were showing the ABC feed about 5 seconds before my ABC station was. Sirius XM in my car or via my ios app is a good one minute behind the TV broadcast feed. The Twitter alerts that come in before I can see or hear the plays on TV/radio are what gets me. I frequently watch TV while interacting with you guys on my iPad, so it’ll be two outs in the ninth, I’ll be waiting for the resolution, and then one of the beat guys will tweet the final, and the alert pops up before I can see it play out on TV. It’s gotten so persistent that I have turned off my Twitter alerts on the iPad, and I flip over the face of my phone so I can’t see the alerts there either.

Look, if there is a shortage, there's a YouTube on how to MacGyver a snow blower and a garden hose into a bidet, so everyone should be fine.

Hinch/Fetter excuted it beautifully and they got some momentum going, but I don't think it's something that's going to work consistently. We might see more bullpen games from teams in the future. but I don't anticipate teams copying the strategy of basically having one regular starter for the last two months and into the playoffs. Exactly. Not every team can put together a reliable bullpen they know will crush it every game, and in fact SSS randomness will lay such plans to waste pretty often. It happened to work for us this time. But hey, if Cleveland and Minnesota and Kansas City want to try to copy that and go long with it next season, they are certainly welcome to try. 😁

If Dirks is going to be on TV most of the time now, I prefer Bobby over everyone else. AA does a fine job too, but I don't think he wants the gig full time. Maybe not. He’s on the Network a fair amount, so he may not want to give that up. The Tigers may go outside the family for a permanent color guy next year. Tell you what, though: when A.J.’s active managing comes up snake eyes a couple games in a row, the board is gonna go right back to that hoary old solid gold biggie, Fire Hinch and the Hitting Coaches. 😏

Sometimes I pause my TV to FF thru commercials. If I accidentally look at Twitter or MTS, I see what's about to happen. That's mostly regular season games though, the playoffs have me on the edge of my seat. No pausing...lol

I agree. I think managers are overrated in general, but Hinch this year is an exception. The one thing I think managers can do to have an impact is bullpen management and Hinch is nailing it.

That's the difference of being on the outside looking in with respect to the playoffs. Hinch has done a magnificent job of having his team motivated to play and prepared as well. HeyAbbott
With respect to the TP situation, if you're really hard up, rake your leaves up in your yard or city park, bag them, and use those.

You just reminded me of why I shut off alerts from my MLB app. Late in the season I realized they hadn't been showing me stuff, I thought it was a glitch. But you are right. and I wasn't streaming it or anything... just watching plain old fashioned cable. They should put a delay on push notifications of about 20 seconds. Yes, and also, pinch hitting and defensive substitutions, as well as picking the right guy to open. A.J. is hitting on all cylinders right now. As we all know as media-savvy consumers, there is a race among the beats to be first reporting the final, and there is nothing in it for Elon to create a delay function on his platform. lordstanley
At the All Star break, wasn't it the general feeling that 2024 could well be Hinch's last year with the Tigers, by mutual agreement? Things have changed.

I think platoons have become pretty common again and I don't think they are that hard to figure out. Adding a 26th roster spot and limiting pitchers to 13 has made platooning easier to do. Hinch has done well in general, but his pitching staff management has been exceptional.
RandyMarsh
I think there is something to be said about the assistant coaches as well particularly when it comes to defense. Several guys have made drastic improvements defensively as the year has gone on, maybe it's just natural growth but I tend to believe it has to at the very least be some coaching.
