It's been well over 10 years since Comerica Park will have a game like this in terms of excitement and anticipation.

The playoff game in 2014 was a complete dud.  The team was down 0-2 already and there were a lot of empty seats.  The Lions were playing across the street and I'd say 1/3 of the fans were engaged in that.  It was as exciting as an April 15 game on Wednesday afternoon during 45 degree snow flurries.

Also because the team feels like it as the leading edge of a talent cycle.  They appear to have such a bright future.  This is a 2006 feel not late talent cycle 1988 or 2016.

The other thing to consider, if anybody reading this is going to be there... there's crowded games.  Then there's opening day crowded games.  Then there's playoff crowded games.  It will be very packed. The lines to get in will be long.  The lines for the bathrooms will be long.  Even with a mid week afternoon game it's late enough that many people can get out of work early and the weather looks great.  So plan accordingly.  Don't show up at 2:30 expecting to see first pitch.

I booked parking about a 1/2 mile away for $10.  It's showing as $45 now on the app.

To be honest, at the risk of eliciting the disrespect of my peers, I didn’t follow game #2 very long and only checked in occasionally until the very end to witness Carpenter’s utterly unbelievable three-run home run which came at the end of a game marked most of the way by a tedious futility in which defeat seemed certain to me. The angst was too much for me.

Instead, I spent $29.99 at Amazon to purchase then watch Deadpool & Wolverine which I’ve already seen three times at the theater to follow the rapid-fire dialogue on CC I’d previously missed.

At the beginning of the film, as a result, I paused it to look up the word “pegging” which I urge none of you to search if you’re at work.

GO TIGERS!!!

In the 2006 ALDS, the Tigers split the first two games at the Yankees, came home and won two straight to win the series 3-1.

In the 2011 ALDS, the Tigers split the first two games at the Yankees, came home and won game 3 but lost game 4, then won Game 5 in New York.

In the 2012 ALDS, the Tigers won the first two games at Comerica, then lost the next two games in Oakland, but won Game 5 still in Oakland.

In the 2013 ALDS, the Tigers split the first two games in Oakland, then split the next two games at Comerica, then went back to Oakland and won Game 5.

The Red Wings open their season on Thursday.  Puck drops an hour after the first pitch.  Should be a fun parking scene.

Wings moved back to 8:00 because this is Tigers Town.

They did move their game to 8 pm, not sure that does anything except delay some Wings early birds..... I've been to a few Tiger Sunday games when the Lions played at home and it was crazy but.... what is Ford Fied capacity?  Figure 45K for the Tigers and 20K for the Wings.

I could see someone with tickets to the Wings but not the Tigers making an all day thing of it.  The Tigers are having a block party that requires a security screening but no ticket.  They started doing that on Fridays this summer, the streetin front of Comerica is blocked off and you go thru metal detectors a lot further back.  The Wings then have something set up in the plaza by LCA.

Sidd Fynch is starting for the Tigers.    Just a rumor I heard.

He has to be 65 years old now or so. I bet he has lost a few miles off his fastball. So he probably only throws about 105 mph now.  I dont recall if he had any secondary pitches, or if he ever found his other boot. He might be a good opener.
