kdog
The days in between games after a win are the best. You can revel in the misery of your opposition and rewatch Carpy's homer 100 times.

Not trying to say he was not in pain. My pops had a total hip replacment at 72 and was up and walking one week later. I just don't want my Pops or Harvey any where near this playoff roster. I'll never understand this. The guy didn't choose to get injured. He doesn't seem to have created problems in the locker room either, since his teammates seems like they were overjoyed to see him. Is he supposed to get shunned forever because his body broke down when he was making too much money?

Would I be happy if he retired and he got to sit on the beach and count all his money? 100% yes, and take his 2024 -1.1 WAR and -2.1 WAA with him. He just got old fast, it happens. I could see him as a Tram style minor league advisor working with young infielders.
Zakk_Wylde
We've made this series into a best of 3, with the Tigers having a home field advantage. Very winnable series. Let's do this!

In all fairness, that crowd at Petco last night was going crazy. That really does look like an advantage.

That's just the thing, how can they rate the Comerica 2024 crowd? We haven't had a playoff home game yet. A very successful opening 4 games though, 3-1 so far in the playoffs, all on the road. RandyMarsh
Petco is wild, I think the fact that the padres are the only pro sports team in town now makes their fans more passionate towards them. Edited October 9 by RandyMarsh

Fans go as the team goes. I remember going to a couple games at Petco about 10 years ago when the Tigers were in town and it was a complete orange and blue takeover. Going back even further, I loved the Murph/Qualcomm. Even though it was a crappy cookie cutter stadium from the late 60’s, nobody ever went and their ushers didn’t care. You could pay for the worst seats and move up to infield box with no issues.

IdahoBert
This is obviously one of those games where Montero can’t be kept in until he’s allowed four or five runs. I hope we see his better angels in this game.

The playoff game in 2014 was a complete dud. The team was down 0-2 already and there were a lot of empty seats. The Lions were playing across the street and I'd say 1/3 of the fans were engaged in that. It was as exciting as an April 15 game on Wednesday afternoon during 45 degree snow flurries. What I remember about 2014 was us fans feeling negative about the team even before the series began. I'm not sure why. This Game 1 lineup was pretty strong and the playoff rotation started with Scherzer, Verlander and Price. The Tigers' regular season record was 90-72. Not sure why even down 2-0 to a 96-win team the fans gave up so easily. Edited October 9 by lordstanley
