What I remember about 2014 was us fans feeling negative about the team even before the series began. I'm not sure why. This Game 1 lineup was pretty strong and the playoff rotation started with Scherzer, Verlander and Price. The Tigers' regular season record was 90-72. Not sure why even down 2-0 to a 96-win team the fans gave up so easily.

As I recall, the Royals were making a late season push and the Tigers didn't clinch the division until about the final day. I also remember the bullpen being bad. That was Nathan was shaky and the trade for Soria turned out to be a bust. Joba, who was good in the first half, struggled in the second half. I also feel like the Tigers had leads in one or both of those games in Baltimore, and the bullpen blew it.

2 innings max? And then go to Hurter?

Montero has pitched well against Cleveland this year. Only given up 4 hits struck out 7 and walked 1 in 27 at bats. He also really settled down game 1. My guess is they will let him go as long as possible until any sign of trouble or breakdown in stuff and then a quick hook.

I don't know...Hinch will pull him for his pitching chaos theory. 2 ip and then a LH pitcher...Holton? Hurter? We'll see...

not a walk-off

It certainly FELT like a walk-off, but 2 things.   It was the 8th inning and we already had a 5-4 lead.   Thanks, in large part, to Tony Gwynn losing a fly ball in the lights and 2b Alan Wiggins having to catch the in RF with his back turned to the plate.    Gibson tagged easily.   Without looking it up - who hit that fly ball for the GW RBI ?   (For those over 55 it should be easy).
