Not sure. Annie came home from school one day and said he was hot. I allowed it because he went to Michigan.

very rarely have they been on the front foot.  they are rarely they attacking team and they always look so passive.

that could be an acknowledgement that their defense is so weak they have to sit back and try to hit on the counter, or they forwards simply arent playing well or arent good enough to retain possession.

theyre very frustrating to watch right now when every team they play - from the good offensive teams like the rangers to the poor offensive teams like the islanders - outplays them offensively by such wide margins.

i have to think this is a plan.  other than edvinnson and seider (and edvinnson can alternate between excellent and shaky) they have below average to bad defensemen.  which falls squarely on yzerman's shoulders.

i'll defend the "no playoffs since 2019" streak because of the massive hole he inherited, but not being able to get ONE decent nhl defenseman in 5 years other than 2 of your top 6 picks?  

i wonder why their nhl pro scouting department has a job after this offseason.

one caveat to the above is that they actually outplayed the rangers in msg for a lot of that game but were done in by sheshterkin.

I can't disagree with anything in this post - but if they are playing this way because Lalonde wants them to it's madness for the long haul because no goalies are going to be able to stand up to that kind of 40 out of 60 minute, 42 SOG per night pressure. Eventually GA will end up drifting up no matter how much they try to play rope-a-dope trying to keep it down.

Wings leading Edmonton 1-0 after 1 and - gasp - outshooting the Oilers 13-5. I haven’t watched yet, but are the Wings actually playing decent?

During 2nd intermission the Oilers broadcast crew said it easily could have been 4-1 Wings after 1. It is now 2-1 Wings after 2.

Raymond falls awkwardly and then after leaving the ice races down the tunnel

only took 10 seconds for mcdavid to saucer a pass across ice, the other guy to actually secure the pass, and for draisatl to beat edvinsson at the back post.

boom boom boom.  oilers win.

That didn’t take long. 

Wings, Sabres, Bruins and Leafs are in 4-way tie for 3rd, each with 4-4-1 records for 9 pts after 9 games. But it feels like the Wings 1/9 of the way into the season are closer to a bottom 5 team than a playoff team. Need to get better but don’t see an obvious source of improvement.

Edvinsson logs 24 minutes tonight, not good enough to break into the line-up until game 69 of last season.
