Not that weird. It’s been rumored for weeks and Florio’s tweet came out at halftime of a game that the Browns are losing at home, 20-3.

It may have been that Florio was told "if the Browns lose today they're officially all in as sellers."

I don't expect that the Lions will give up much for Smith. 2024 5th, maybe a 4th if a 6th or a 7th comes back with Smith.

Yes, this is probably right, and a lopsided halftime score allows him to get the story out eight hours early. Florio is a blowhard but he has sources.

Its good Smith appears to want to come here.  That will help if other teams want to trade for him and not increase what it will cost to get him.  Because the Lions will be at the end of each round in the draft it will make it easier for a team to come in and undercut us.

I would be very surprised if we didn't make a trade for a DE before the end of tomorrow.  I also don't want us to stop there.  Think some LB depth would be good as well.

I'd say grab Arden Key from the Titans too. Listening to the guy from Locked on Titans, he seemed to think that Key could be had for a 7th that could bump to a 6th with various conditions. Obviously this is just one podcasters opinion but if accurate I'd do that in a heart beat for more rushing depth.

24 hours after it was supposedly all but done that Smith was heading to the Lions and still no news. So... do we think the Lions are still shopping for other options? Do we think the Browns are asking for too much? Do we think that the original rumors were wrong? Or is Smith just trying to get Brodric Martin to give up 99 before he'll agree to come here?

We needed a quality wide receiver and an edge rusher to go along with Hutch last season and we got DPJ. I'm not sure if Holmes can make a quality trade deadline trade. Maybe it's his one weakness? We'll soon see....

if he could do it over, Holmes would probably keep the 6th round pick and forego DPJ.

but they have to make a move; cannot be in the Superdome in Feb wanting a better pass rush against Mahomes

Hutch will record three sacks in his Super Bowl return.

Probably just generic roster moves. Both these players were elevated from the practice squad on Nov. 2nd so they were probably simply depth pieces that are going back down to the Practice Squad after the game. Probably...

True... which means he might be slightly more shy about pulling the trigger.

One was expected for Jamo. The other opens the door for someone else.

If it's the Browns holding out hoping for something better that makes me feel better than if the Lions were holding out hoping the Browns would drop the price. I was worried that the Lions would be too stingy and someone else would pick up the trade pieces before the Lions could.

Only Florio said that. None of the reliable insiders said that there was a deal in place, Schefter said it "should" happen but didn't say today.

Well today is going to be stressful for many reasons lol

This is clearly the Browns hoping for a better pick.  I would like to see a conditional pick here.  We make the super bowl and it becomes a better pick.  Its a good bet for the Browns with how we're playing.  I have heard the Lions have been on the phone with multiple teams (including Titans and Giants) so they have bargaining chips as well.  With how we are playing, I wonder if a team would make a better offer to stop us from getting Smith or someone else.

How crazy would it be that the reason were waiting till today is because were still hoping for Garrett or Crosby.  Maybe Smith deal is in place but they are making sure there isn't a chance in getting them.

To bad there weren't rental deals out there.  We will give you a 2nd (1rs if we make the SB) just for this year and you can have him back next year....lol.
