This game is crazy! Last play of the game and Herbert throws a 100mph dart for a game tying TD to force OT. I believe the Chargers converted 3 4th downs on that drive along with that buzzer beating TD. Hey we may just get that tie after all!

I can't imagine being a Steelers fan right now.

And if it ends in a tie, the Steelers missing will end up coming down to them choking against the Lions.

Can't make that up.

You essentially end up with nothing for Stafford except a rookie QB.

and that's a bad thing?  if the "rookie qb" is a franchise player then its worth it.

and you'd still have the rams pick this year.

Why did the Chargers call timeout?

It makes no sense. If the concern was that the Raiders would call time out to kick a Fg, it wouldn’t matter if they tried the kick with 35s to go or 1s to go. If he makes it, game is over anyways, the time doesn’t mean anything to you.

It was a weird call, but people are really underestimating the idea that LV would have still tried kicking that field goal. Especially with Carlson, who is a really good kicker.

The risk of going to Cincinnati over KC is worth it IMO.

But they will be trading two of their own which would likely be better picks than the Rams so the net is nothing. They could have just traded Stafford to Carolina for the 9th pick and drafted Fields. I'm also wondering how far you think the Lions would need to trade up that they would be trading three 1st round picks?

The time would matter if he misses. The Raiders didn't seem like they were in a hurry though.

Of course they weren't in a hurry. They were in the catbird seat, playoffs almost entirely guaranteed. The only question was whether Carlson would send them to Cincinnati or not.

They ran it on 3 straight play at over 55 yards out. If they were truly playing to win, they would have at least attempted a pass to get closer and then ran on it. They seemed indifferent. The timeout by the Chargers came with only 4 seconds on the play clock so it really didn't save much time. The play was not stopping them on 3rd down.

Why? You think if the Chargers got the ball back after a missed FG attempt with 30 seconds to go they would have tried to get into FG position? Maybe, but I think that's a reach.

After looking at it again, they let the play clock run down to 4 seconds. They didn't save much time. They could have saved 30 more seconds if they wanted to. My guess is Staley wanted to talk to his defense and let them know to play for the tie.
