This game is obviously huge, but it feels a bit bigger for the Packers. As opposed to the Vikings game, which felt bigger for the Lions, if not equally important for both teams.

Lions win and they are the clear leader in the best division in football. They would be 7-1 and hold a two- or three-game lead over the Vikings, effectively a three-game lead over the Packers, and only games at Ford Field to go against both of those teams. It would also give some welcomed breathing room with the Texans, Bills, and 49ers still to play outside the division.

Packers win and there is congestion at the top again with the Packers, Lions, and Vikings all separated by a game or less.

It’s crazy to say at 6-1 with a +100 point differential but outside the Dallas game, this team still hasn’t played a complete 4 quarters of quality football.   They have had a blah quarter in just about every game.

They’ve also not yet had their yearly stinker. I don’t count the Bucs game, that was just early season inopportunely bad football.

If one theme of this season is the MCDC revenge tour, they will definitely want to avenge their Thanksgiving day whipping by the Packers. Detroit went in a little complacent and let Jordan Love have a coming out party. The Lions got outplayed but they also got outcoached. It will be fun to see how they try to avenge that loss.

The Tampa Bay game was the result of not having your offensive players play at all in the preseason.    They were just out of sync that day.     I understand why they don't play them, you want them being healthy and not risking a major injury, but there is a price to pay.    I think the difference was that Baker & Co actually had played a bit.    But there's another reason they lost that game -- because Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson shouldn't have jobs.  They should have been fired a long time ago.  Do you realize that yesterday they had 5 series when they didn't score?     Do you realize that Aaron Glenn just let Tennessee score at will?     These are 6-11 coaches who are just lucky.

Decker is a concern.   Not looking good in pass protection the last few games.

All kidding aside,  Glenn runs an extremely aggressive defense that will get burned - often, but they also make huge plays and that physicality - that might a reason that teams always lose after facing the Lions.    The defense will give up a lot of yards and it seems as if the other team will have one receiver that has a huge day, but doesn't get in the end zone that much.   The defense must be better against the rush than they were yesterday, but Pollard is a lot like Montgomery - he is very hard to bring down.   I think some of the issues with the rushing defense might have to do with having to use some of those guys to create some sort of pass rush.      I hope Jos Paschal is okay.  Hearing he missed time due to the cancer he had 6 years ago is really scary.   But they absolutely need to find someone.  Seems like that position is a bit cursed this year.   A lack of pass rush breaks the whole defense down.

I think this is right. The game was such an anomaly when you look at the season to this point. How does this offense go 1/7 in the red zone?

That said, I’ll take a slow start over losing a big contributor in a meaningless preseason game.

Because I don't think they are going 17-1 this season, I think they lose this one.     Unless they can grab an elite pass rusher somehow before this game.

Of course TP will want EVERYONE fired and radio callers will bitch about Goff saying he's terrible, but all will be fine.

I think the only team that even comes close to the Lions in the NFC is Green Bay.    The rest of the conference is not close to those two teams.

The Lions only have 3 more Sunday 1pm games left.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a win here, but expecting a loss for these reasons:

  • Goff's ankle: I'm hoping it's a non-factor and he's fine, but I'm just not sure he's going to be 100%.
  • DL-front 7 injuries: Too many injuries here and unless we get a trade option in today (Tues) I don't think he's going to be ready for full reps in our system by Sunday.
  • OL inconsistent: To be fair, the Titan's defense is good, but man our OL looked questionable against them.
  • Jamo out: Yes we have plenty of other weapons, but having a key player out never helps.
  • The Packers: I hate to say it, but they're good and we'll be playing in GB.

I absolutely believe that the Lions CAN win this game. I'm not even sure I'd call it an upset if they do win. But I also very realistically see this as a game they could lose and I won't call it an upset if they do lose (unless they get just totally crushed).

I prefer Love play and isn't 100% than a healthy Willis.  Willis has not looked bad in the earlier games.  Although I don't think he has had to be great and your going to have to, to beat this Lions team.  If I am GB, even though this is an important game, I let Love rest and get healthy.

I think they win one of the next two close and get blown out in the other. And if that happens it will not be cause for panic.

I lean towards Packers being the win and Texans being the blowout loss, but I could be wrong. I just think they’ll be 7-2 with a smaller differential in two weeks.

If we have to lose one, I'd much prefer it being the Texans game. I'd rather have the bragging rights and of course the divisional standing advantage of beating the Pack.
