Week Nine: Detroit Lions (6-1) @ Green Bay Packers (6-2)

Recommended Posts

Think about where this team was just 5 years ago.

The fans had no hope

The players HATED their coach

They FOUND ways to lose

Nobody wanted to play here

This turnaround is beyond stunning and the thing that makes it the most stunning is that this is built to last for a long, long time.  With this GM, you have the confidence that a terrible season would be 8-9,  not 3-14.

They just find ways, no matter what.

Campbell is has the 8th most regular season wins as a Lions head coach:

Wayne Fontes: 66
Potsy Clark: 53
George Wilson: 53
Buddy Parker: 47
Joe Schmidt: 43
Monte Clark: 43
Jim Caldwell: 36
Dan Campbell: 31

Department of useless information: The Lions have not been coached by anyone whose first or last name started with a vowel since WWII.

For anyone saying BS come on. It doesn’t get more obvious.

Absolutely the right call to throw him out for that absolute cheap shot. Was it worth it branch?  3rd and 20, instead it’s 1st and 10 and you’re ejected for an egregious unnecessary cheap shot.  Game changer.

It’s an ejection all day and every day in college.  NFL has different rules and this just a 15 yard penalty.   Completely without warrant.

Jordan Poyer on Miami and Coby Bryant of Seattle both had near identical plays yesterday and neither had a New York ejection.

The fact that Wayne Mediocre Fontes leads this list shows how decrepit the franchise has been for so long, it's unreal ineptitude when you think about it. Campbell is going to be the winningest Lions coach in team history by his 6th year potentially. Winningest coach in franchise history Year 6, a franchise that has been around for a century, is lunacy.

Xavier Woods hit was similar. Put the receiver in the hospital. Finished the game.

I think Fontes sort become a caricature of himself at the end, but I give him a lot of credit for figuring out how to win with a team that always had a lot of weaknesses once you got past Barry. If Fontes had been coaching for a Brad Holmes built team, I don't think his name would be a joke in Det today. Of course that might be true for almost any coach with the good fortune to coach a Holmes team!

It’s Dov, so take it FWIW, but he seems to see LeFleur say **** off to the Lions sideline.

And...?

Look, I'm not saying that it's a good thing if he said that, but on my list of things I'm gonna be upset about the coach of a losing team on a miserable night getting peeved and maybe saying F.O. to maybe the opposing team is very far down my list of thing to be upset around.

Not saying you are getting riled up about it MB... just saying it seems like just a low level news item that I wonder why Dov is even commenting on it.

Dov likes to post that kind of stuff. No one is riled up. I like the Lions are causing the opposing coach to meltdown. I’m guessing a Lions player, probably St Brown, was chirping at the Packers bench.

don't know if he was thinking it for the Lion's sideline or just whoever was on his headset  but it sure doesn't look like he said anything loud enough to be heard all the way across the field so basically just an empty gesture if that's even what he said at all.

I think it is safe to say St Brown will never get a contract offer from the Packers.

I wasn't a Fontes fan, he was a good motivator and the players loved him but he was a horrible in game coach, seemed clueless often times.
