Flames announcers vehemently opposed to the call. "Yeah, technically, there are too many men on the ice, but in a way that's hardly ever called".

Sneaky way to get guys back on defense faster, I’m glad they called it!

lucky call.

calgary has a negative goal differential, i dont think theyre actually that good.  otoh, we pmayed against their backup goalie tonight.

a win is a win for this bunch.  .500 with the way theyve played is a blessing.

Matinee opens with a rare Tarasenko goal.

Power play goal....assisted by Petry who was qbing the second unit.  It felt like a preseason game for a second.

Raymond banks it in for a second goal! Assist to Tarasenko.

Not sure you should go for that challenge there with how good the Devils PP is and how bad the Wings PK is....could see that coming.

I dread what’s going to happen on the 4 minute power play NJ has to start the 3rd.

they are just so uncoordinated as a team. So many outlet passes to nowhere, dump-arounds with no-one crashing  the opposite boards, they give up so much space to the opposition players in their own zone - too slow/lack of anticipation of where the play is going to be/inability to track their assignments. The fact they have a few guys with PP skill is the only thing that saves them at all. The pain this year better pay off big in the next couple.

Apart from Simon and Seider...the defense is not good.  The PK is atrocious.  This is not a good team.  Cat,Larkin and Raymond are going to have to carry this team because the bottom nine after them is pretty meh..at best.

walman is understandable to me.  he was weak and a front runner.  talented, but not really a "defenseman."  the fact they had to attach a pick to give him up tells you how the league sees him.  he's doing well as a good player on a crap team.

with that said, gothisbere is a little harder to explain.  like ive said before, if you dont spend on tarasenko then you can afford ghost and dont need to sign gustafson, who has been a disaster.

I hear ya, but I still wonder if loss of Walman's quickness is part what the PK is suffering from. Edvinssson may be a better player overall at this point, but matching him with Seider on the PK may not be the best way to get to the most loose pucks first, which for all of Lalonds technique talk about the problem, is the root of it.  And TBF, the problem on the PK is at least as much two forwards out there.

And they probably have no-one more effective than Edvinsson to play on the PK now - they have to hope that his anticipation gets better as the season goes on so he can play faster than he does now.

wings playing (and losing) a matinee today.

gave up two power play goals.  seider had a very bad second period.  edvinsson loses the puck and fischer botches his covering responsibility and vancouver scores their 3rd on a two on one.

3-2 after 2.

talbot got hurt in the second.  husso in.  husso made some nice saves until giving up the 3rd goal.

kasper looks active, as usual.  larkin looks a bit off.  kind of like he's looked all season.  still good, still scoring and making plays, but he just looks a beat behind this year.

I've thought since last year that we'd get more out of Seider if we played him a little less. I think Lalonde runs him out of gas.
