NYLion Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 This is going to be a tougher matchup than people think and not only because of the injuries. The Bears always present a tough matchup for the Lions, although this Lions team is next level, and you better believe that they will treat this as their Superbowl so this COULD be the type of game that bites the Lions. I don't expect them to lose but I don't think this as much a gimme as Vegas thinks it is. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I'm surprised by the +10 line. Despite a losing record, the Bears still have a positive point differential. They don't get blown out often. Their defense is legit. Offensively, they have a weak line, we all know Swift likes to dance and not make contact, and Keenan Allen looks washed. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Since Arizona is playing Minnesota, I hope the Lions don't clinch a playoff spot. 2 Quote

They’re routinely getting 80-90% of bets and are still 9-2 ATS. They're routinely blowing teams out in a league where half of all games are decided by 8 or less points. Despite the spread being >10 for a divisional Thanksgiving game against a decent Bears team, 77% of money is going to the Lions. Spreads will keep going up until the Lions can’t cover them. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 James Houston was released. He’ll be a fun trivia answer in 20 years. Quote

His name has probably come up in the worst case scenario contingency planning if Goff gets hurt. Quote

PFT says he could sign to a practice squad and then be able to sign with a team that has an injury from there. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Lions fall to 5th all time through 11 games, still the best non undefeated team though. On a side note its the Lions franchise luck that arguably the best team they ever had before this one happened to run into the 2nd best team of all time in the NFC Championship game. Quote

I loved Dan Campbell from the very beginning. I wasn't positive it would work. It's one thing to be a leader of men, it's another to get the right guys around you that will listen, heed, and walk the walk. That introductory press conference, I remember watching and thinking "this dude is awesome!!" He spoke directly to all of us. He knew his audience, and it wasn't the talking heads on ESPN who made fun of it. I thought that if he got the right guys from Holmes, that this could turn into something special. My faith wasn't unwavering though. The closest I came to not believing was when they hit 1-6 in 2022, fresh off five straight losses where they lost 28-24, 48-45, 29-0, 24-6, and 31-27. I thought they needed to change something and that it might need to be Aaron Glenn who went. They canned Aubrey Pleasant instead and the rest is history still in progress. As long as I'm flaunting my own predictive success though.... In August 2022, fresh off the 3-13-1 season, I bought these AirPods, which I still have. Which is impressive in two regards: (1) that I have a working pair of AirPods that I haven't lost or broken after more than two years... And (2) that I believed, dammit!! Well, believed enough to give myself two shots at being right (I would have claimed credit last year and will definitely claim this year if the impossible becomes reality). Motown Bombers Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I never lost faith and called every single win in that 8-2 run except Carolina and was literally laughed at. 1 Quote
RandyMarsh Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 2022 Detroit Lions Regular Season Thread in Detroit Lions Posted November 4, 2022 Its a fine line between giving a GM/Coach too much rope or cutting them too early. Yeah the Lions haven't made the progress in the win/loss department like I hoped but unlike with Quinntricia I can see some positive things that Holmes/Campbell have brought to the table despite that. I believe Holmes knows what he is doing and while Campbell has made some mistakes on the field that is only one part of being a HC and maybe the most insignificant part at that. Most on field decisions are based off of what the analytics tell you, sometime you look like a genius if those decisions work out other times you don't, but what you do away from Sunday and how players respect and want to play for you is 100% on the coach and it seems in that regard Campbell has it. I also respect the fact that he is willing to make changes and hold other coaches responsible by evidence of the Pleasant firing this year and Lynn firing last year. This isn't to say that both should be given a 5+ year leash but I think calling for their firing just 2 years in could be a bit premature no matter where we finish this season. Yes turnarounds can happen fast in the NFL but sometimes they do take a few years and I rather give the guys a chance to see their vision through before firing them and starting over half way through. That was my feeling on Dan towards our low point, little did I know then how fast we would turn it around. Quote

Tigeraholic1 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 All I ever wanted was a Lions team that was not the butt of every joke. Also to play competitive games and be in the mix at the end of the season for a WC spot. Then Shiela showed up.... 1 Quote
