So stupid to have starters in still because of the dumb point differential rule.  I blame the Europeans.

Not a fan of the point differential tie-breaker. I'd rather see a points system like they do in Summer League where you get points for each quarter you win, or something like that. It feels like NBA2K out there with starters trying to run up the score in a 20 blow point blowout.

Either way, that was a heck of a game by the Pistons on both ends. Outside of a turnover stretch to start the 4th, they really cooked the Pacers. Outside, inside, defensively. That was the whole package, especially the effort.

Most complete game I have seen from the Pistons in years.

love it.  score score score.  makes even the last few minutes of a blow out important enough for PLAYERS TO TRY.

i know its strange to watch nba players try to score for the entire game in a regular season affair.  were so used to them loafing their way through meaningless regular season games that seeing them try to score points late in a blowout is disconcerting.

That might have been the biggest win of the Cade Era, as sad as that is. Beasley was a huge pickup, don't know if they can re-sign him or if they should but he's amazing value at that dollar figure.

So do the Pistons clich the Knockout Round now?

Geez, how bad was Monty Williams?

Worst coach I've ever seen on a Pistons sideline and there's some strong candidates. Chaney, Kuester, Frank etc.  Thank God that Gores realized his mistake and footed the bill of the buyout because the Pistons couldn't afford for him to wreck another development year.

Option #1 would be to sign him this summer.

Option #2 A and B.  If they are within realistic reach of the playin then they keep him 100%.  This organization needs to get to the post season in a bad way.  You can't trade guys for future assets if you have a shot at the playoffs.  Even if you know he will walk you keep him in this scenario.

If they are not close to the playin then you probably trade him.  How receptive will he be to return to a team that didn't make the playoffs?  If he keeps this up then he will have every good team in the league after him.  Also, they do not have his Bird rights.  So they can't offer better terms than anyone else.

It's a good problem to have.

OK, so he is kissing butt just like JRIII did.  But at least he is kissing the franchise players butt and not some guy that should be in the G-League.

Quote

It was the third wide-open look from the same spot. The first two missed badly, hitting the side of the rim. Thompson, the second-year forward working his way back from a blood clot issue, looked like a career 18.8 percent 3-point shooter on his first two looks.

Yet, when Cunningham saw Thompson drift toward Stewart in the paint, he knew the same action had produced the same look. And even though the same shooter stood in the corner, Cunningham made the same decision. He zipped a two-hand pass over his head to the left corner into Thompson’s shooting pocket and Thompson knocked it down.

The message was delivered.

“That I believe in him, more than anything,” Cunningham said postgame of the message he was sending Thompson. “I’ve seen the work that he’s put in. He has confidence in it, so I have confidence in it. If they were going to continue to guard it like that, he was the only open guy so it’s on him to make a play. I believe he felt confident in that shot. That’s why he kept shooting it.”

Can they offer him an extension during the season? Not sure if he'd take it because he's playing himself into a much bigger contract, but just wondering.

I don't think guys on one year deals are eligible. I'm not 100% sure about that.

With the combination of the Pistons being improved and the east being a hot mess, I'd be surprised if the Pistons weren't in play in contention by the deadline so I don't see any reason to trade Beasley. I think re-sign is the best option, he's an obvious fit with Cade and/or Ivey and he's only 28, well 29 when the new contract kicks in. Unless he doesn't want to be here, I think he should be a priority in the offseason assuming the price isn't too outrageous.

This will make you puke.  They might not have the cap space to sign him.

True. They already have 136M guaranteed, which is just crazy. Things look like they open up the year after, but that's when Ivey and Duren's extensions would kick in (if that happens).
