This may be one of the three worst Wings teams of the last 35 years.

nothing tops 2019.

that group had mantha, larkin, bertuzzi, and hronek.

this group has larkin, seider, edvinnson, raymond, kasper.  i think seider, ed, and raymond give this group the edge...

Holl. Finally gets the puck on the PP and makes a blind clear right back to a Hab. Open your eyes man.

A couple of minutes later Petry, under no pressure, outlets the puck right back to a Hab.

This team can't make the simplest plays like competent professionals.

The Wings are beyond depressing. In most of every game they play, the opposing players on the ice play with more speed, skill and creativity than the Wings players on the ice do. That's just no fun to watch at all. They aren't just bad, they are supremely boring.

And that post isn't meant to be a big knock against Kaspar. He might turn out to be a fine NHL player. But my point is that the "next wave of prospects" that is used to urge patience and justify another down year is made up of a bunch of mid-1st rounders that show promise but are still just potential. None are can't miss top 3 draftees. So sure, have hope for 2026 or 2027, but for now I'm tempering my expectations, as we can't assume yet that the Wings' prospect pool is going to drastically outperform their original draft positions.

the best thing for them long term is to be so bad as to nab a top 3 pick this year.

are seider and edvinsson outperforming their draft position?  not sure.  theyre probably in line with what to expect from #6.

kasper is actually performing better than i thought he would.  strange to say, but he's being weighed down by the dead wood at wing on his line.

tarasenko has been awful. what a waste of a signing. rasmussen has been non-existent.  veleno is meh.  copp and compher are just third and fourth line try hard guys.  kane has lost everything but his hockey brain.

raymond is a really good player but too small to be a dominant force.  larkin looks off this year, like the age and the injuries are just starting to take their tool.  still a good player, but not the 1B center he has been the past few years.  debrincat is a luxury player. a streaky scorer that is too small to be anything else.

they need size up front and someone who can get pucks in corners.  ras was supposed to be that guy but he isnt.

If Buffalo is looking to dump guys they will have trouble signing...Byram and Peterka would be great.  Peterka can take a spot on the first line with 71 and 23.  Kasper can C the 2nd line.  Byram can play  the 2nd pair ..eventually with ASP.

Everything else on the roster is junk..including Kane.  Kane may gave some value to a contender needing scoring.  Can't see anyone other than one of the goalies being of interest to anyone.

Would love to see what Biuim, Wallinder and Tuomisto can do...not gonna see all three at once, but why not give them a few games each to see what you have there?

Michael Misa would be great if we can get some lotto luck...
