Here's hoping we find out these players actually are not as bad as they have been playing.

I think they are better than this, but LaLonde just wasn't getting the most out of them,  but if this doesn't get any better Steve Yzerman should absolutely be on the hot seat.     Annoying to see how well Hronek did last year and how well Jake Walman is doing this year.   That's on Yzerman.    I refuse to believe that it should take this long just to be in the upper half of a conference.

There were signs of this last year too.   They were playing really well and then Larkin got hurt and they flat-out quit and the first game he came back they started playing well again.   Larkin is not Gretzky,  he should not have that much of an impact.  No one player should.    That was quite alarming.

Remember when everyone wanted to fire Jim Harbaugh after his 2nd year...... College Football isn't like the NHL. From what I can tell, you need 5-6 years before you start to really see a dent being made whereas College Football is 2 years ish. Woudln't we be giving up on Yzerman before he can really get his guys in? He's been screwed by the draft EVERY SINGLE TIME and hasn't gotten the stars to build around. But from my understanding the farm system is strong and the young guys are just now coming up. Because Yzerman's has been screwed by the draft, what else can he do? Everyone was complaining recently about the coach, he just fixed that. But what else can he do? I think Yzerman being the golden boy in Detroit still has 2-3 years of leeway before Illitch looks at replacing him..... He needs more time in my opinion (even though I know little about hockey........)

Tired of hearing about how he gets screwed in the draft lottery.   Still not an excuse.    Besides, it's not the draft where he's failing, it's signing decent veteran players.      It just shouldn't take this long to claw your way up to 8th in your conference.   Not a lot to ask there.

toronto has how many players who are much better than any player on detroit?

marner, nylander, matthews....tavares?

the only player the wings have who can make the plays marner and nylander have been making is kane.  and he cant do it anymore.

the wings had lots of chances, they just miss.  or the puck bounces over their stick.  or they cant handle the pass.  or they shoot it right at the goalie.

theyre just not good enough to compete with a team like toronto when toronto is on their game.  youve got to beat the crap out of toronto.  get them off their game.  detroit hasnt done any of that.

Wings win a faceoff in own zone with 7 seconds to go in 2nd period, have possession in corner with 4.5 seconds to go, somehow still find a way to give up goal before end of the period. 5-0 Leafs after 2.

looking at what the caps did this offseason as far as free agents and seeing what the wings did leaves a lot to be desired.

And the Caps did well in the 2019 draft despite not picking high. Connor McMichael and Alieksai Protas both have 30 points in 36 games this season. McMichael was drafted 1st round 25th overall, Protas was drafted 3rd round 91st overall. Incidentally, another Caps' 2nd rounder from that draft, #56 overall Brett Leason has already played in 186 NHL games, albeit 3/4 of them being for the Ducks after being waived by Washington.

zero clue about this twitter account but I have seen a ton of reports that the sabres and red wings have had scouts at each others' games recently so I figured I would post it

I also saw some rumblings about Pettersson to Detroit but that seems like it was just fantasy, I guess the nucks gm held a bizarre press conference recently?  I guess theres some locker room strife or something.

Petersson and JT Miller don’t get along. I thought that was just rumor,  but team management recently confirmed it and basically said the two of them both need to grow up and get their act together. Fans have been on Petersson since the spring as they feel he has really tailed off after signing his 8 x $11.6mm contract. My daughter is dating a fine young man who is a Canucks fan and who like many fans his age (21 y.o) is big into analytics, prospects, drafts, trade proposals, etc. way more than I am. When he was over on Christmas he said any trade for Petersson would start with Seider and add from there. Well yeah, if we are just talking about player quality, but not if we think Petersson’s contract is bad. He’s coming over tonight for New Year’s Eve and wanted to make sure the Canada-U.S. world junior game will be on.
