I don't remember which road we had the 20...

I was in the Army in the 80's and then college in Boca Raton so it's at least 40 years and my memory is fading quite badly... Dad sold it sometime in the 80's too.

It might have been Shelby Road... we were right next to a farm and in back of the 20 was a Christmas Tree farm, basically... That's as much as i remember...

That and Uncle Ken sneaking into the tree farm so we had free trees every Christmas for awhile...

We grew Christmas Trees...Hey!   JK...we grew them but we barely cultivated more than one per year.

This was a huge tree farm...

Might've even been 40 acres (LOL... JK...) !!!

Don't know if they kept it up all these years since we were last there...

Dearborn is into book banning now.............so not that surprised (Gretch still kicked her arse here, though).

For the amount of attention it garnered before the election, I expected a bigger swing.

I guess that’s one thing every conservative religion can agree on: god hates fags.

Living here and following the discouse at the meetings.... it's the same thing.

You'll hear statements like "It's nothing against the gays... we just don't want our kids reading it"

There's one guy who is prominent in all the videos.  Hass Cash is the name he goes by.  His instagram is full of photos of him at strip clubs with the girls.  But he's against smut.

One actual quote from a meeting "We don't have anything against gay people.... but the kids.... wait until they're 18, then they can be gay".

There are a lot of Muslims also against this ban.  A lot of it is just piling on and people wanting to join the rallies and be seen.  It's a game to them.

A few weeks ago before the election I was talking to someone at the gym before our class.  He is very involved and was doing work for Slotkin.  A lady who covers came over and asked if she was a democrat.  He said yes and then she said "Oh, democrats are immoral"   I so wanted to say "You know, 5 years ago the republicans wanted to ban you guys from coming in and 21 years ago after 9/11 they wanted to deport you."

Pulling up the ladder?

I voted for Scotty Boman that year. No, not the Red Wings coach, but the Libertarian Party candidate for Senate. That was my last election voting anything other than straight Democrat. May of 2012 was when my dad first confessed to me he was broke and his home was in foreclosure. How the hell could I keep voting Libertarian for a bunch of free market acolytes who would take away my dad's Social Security and Medicare. How could I vote for people who would look at my dad, shrug their shoulders and say "oh well, not my problem, should have made better choices with your investments and money." I don't think I voted for a single Republican in 2012.

everyone's a libertarian until they need something. (myself included)

I flirted, but never even went out on a first date as a Libertarian.

I like the idea of socially liberal and "fiscally responsible", but not stripping the government down to a skeleton crew.

I don't date skeletons so, no thanks. (I like a little meat on the bones...)

and I realized the GOP wasn't really fiscally responsible. To them that means tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.  The spending stayed the same.  Just a matter of who gets it.  In that scenario I'd rather it be those who need it.

The GOP wants a world where you either make a half million or more a year, or you are stuck in service/gig jobs struggling to get to $50K a year.  You are easier to control that way.

I like the idea of European socialism. It's unfortunately Bernie Sanders and the squad completely ruined that.

lol Bernie and the Squad killing European-style socialism in America. Conservatives have been arguing against any whiff of that since presidents had moustaches.

They're just grifters who attack Democrats and accomplish nothing. They really don't want to accomplish anything because that be counterproductive to their outrage politics.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but they are definitely not the reason even a little that we don’t have European-style socialism.

That's where I dropped both Libertarians and Republicans.

I like the idea of a balanced budget... but to me that means that taxes may have to be raised OR there are spending choices... not slash, cut & burn, plus tax cuts only for the wealthy and businesses and only corporations get welfare.

That put me back into the middle as an Independent... but caucusing 95+ % with moderate Dems.

I think MB was talking about Republicans (only what you quoted) and it looks like you're talking about Progressives...?

Not at all. I was pushing back on the implication that the reason we do not have European socialism in America today is because ultra-liberals ruined the possibility for us.
