seeing cindy crosby and mario lemieux together makes me puke with how lucky pittsburgh has been.  tanking and getting lucky to get two uber generational players.

just to remind pittsburgh and the rest of the league how good the red wings were to be so good for so long with fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh round hall of fame players and ZERO help from the league.

bitches.

Did Raymond just get hurt?

Not sure, have only seen one mention of it on Twitter. Canadian tv nit mentioning it, if so. Here’s Raymond’s 2nd assist.

Raymond was the best player for the Swedes.   Made an impression on almost every shift.  They had him on PP1 as well.

Fun game to watch.  Both goalies stepped up big time late in a tie game.

For fun, I looked at the rosters of the teams and checked the draft positions of each player. I didn't update/correct for injury replacements. The Canada-U.S. rosters and to a lesser extent the Swedish roster are the definition of elite, so to what extent do top 5 picks, for example, fill the roster? It would be impossible to fill 60 skater spots all with top 5 picks unless every pick for 12 years was a big hit plus every one was from one of those 3 countries. But going in, I'd expect maybe 10 of the 60 skaters to be top 5 picks and 40 of the 60 to be 1st round picks. Highlights/summaries will be in the next post. Let's see the results.

Highlights

- To do away with the goalies first, of the 9 goalies there was one 1st rounder picked 26th overall, two 2nd rounders and six picked 3rd round or later

- Of the 60 skaters, there were 6 #1 overall picks, 19 top 5 picks (#1-#5 overall), 30 picked in the top half of the 1st round (#1-#16 overall), and 41 1st round picks (#1-#32 overall). So more top 5 picks than I expected but almost exactly the number of 1st rounders I expected.

- Of the 6 skaters on the three teams who were #1 picks overall, 3 are Canadian, 2 are American, 1 is a Swede.

- Of the 19 skaters on the three teams who were top 5 picks, 8 are Canadian, 5 are American, 6 are Swedes.

- 13 of Canada's 20 skaters were 1st round picks, 15 of the States' 20 skaters were 1st round picks, and 13 of Sweden's 20 skaters were 1st round picks

- Overall, 28 of the three teams' 39 forwards were 1st round picks. 13 of the three teams' 21 defensemen were 1st round picks.

geesh - maybe people don't like goalies, but to move them in front of even the Lawyers?

I'm hoping AI will do away with 50% of lawyers. Goalies, we're stuck with.

if they do, are they going to add a sixth team?  germany?
