So I'm really sold on this format. Now the NHL needs to make sure not to blow it by over-exposing, like they did with the Winter Classic. I'd scrap the 8-team World Cup and let the Olympics every 4 years serve that purpose. I'd do a 4 Nations every 2 years, in the midpoint between Olympics:

- 4 nations makes every game be against top teams. Canada-US-Sweden constant, the Russians if they're available, a 4th team like Finland or Czech if not

- February timing is good. Better than September.

- Like the 3-2-1 points for regulation win, overtime win, loss.

- Love the fact that the games are mostly Eastern Time Zone prime time with the weekend or holiday flexibility getting a couple into the European prime time

- Always keep it in North America. Europeans get the Winter Olympics now and then, that's enough.

- NHL rules better than IIHF rules. If IIHF rules, last night's fights wouldn't have happened or else the fighters would have all received game misconducts and possible suspensions.

- Thursday night is a great night for the final for highest viewership

Would you rather fight broccoli Tkachuk or ogre Tkachuk?

Didn't expect to enjoy the tournament this much, I'm really looking forward to the Olympics now.

****!  I know how this is going to turn out.  Canada left for dead after losing to us in the round robin will find a way to win Gold in the final.    Damn you, McJesus

I hope so. That would be the norm for Team Canada in its most iconic triumphs. Down 3-1-1 to the Soviets in the 8-game Summit Series in 1972, won the final three games to win the series on Paul Henderson’s last minute goal. Lost the 1st game of the best of 3 final of the 1987 Canada Cup, won game 2 in OT, won the title on Lemieux’s goal from Gretzky in the final 2 minutes of Game 3. Lost to Sweden and Czech in the preliminary round of the 2002 Olympics to finish 3rd in group, went on to beat the U.S. in the gold medal game. In the 2010 Olympics were taken to a shootout by Switzerland and lost to the U.S. to finish 6th in the preliminary, blew out Russia in the quarters and won gold over the U.S. on Crosby’s golden goal.

Brady Tkachuk appears to have sustained an injury after losing an edge and crashing into the Swedish goalie early in the game. Did not come out for the 2nd period. Not sure how serious, may just be precautionary as this is a meaningless game for the States.
