Kevin Pelton at ESPN wrote an article making his ASG picks.  He has Cade in.

Quote

Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons | Backcourt

Cunningham's advanced stats haven't improved as much this season as his box score numbers -- his 23.5 PPG, 9.0 APG and 7.2 RPG are all career highs -- in part because he is averaging 4.7 turnovers per game, second most in the league. I'd still bet on him as an All-Star if the Pistons stay in the mix for a postseason play-in spot because that will feel like a breakthrough, whereas other East teams (most notably the Atlanta Hawks and the Indiana Pacers, with previous All-Stars Trae Young and Tyrese Haliburton, respectively) in play-in range feel like disappointments.

Ivey fans about to kill me.  But I think he should move to the bench and let Beasley start.

This isn't a Killian thing, Beasley is arguably the teams second best player after Cade.

It also is not a punishment for Ivey.  I think he has some issues but has been fine for the most part.  This is about Beasley and not about Ivey.  They both shoot about the same from three but Beasley makes double the three's that Ivey does.  That will help Cade.  That will help with the slow starts from the starters.

Ivey will get the same amount of minutes he does now, just at different points in the game.  Going against other bench players will only help his stats.

JB should tailor the end game minutes based on what the team needs.  Cade has it going on then leave Beasley out there for the shooting.  Cade is being doubled and struggling?  Put Ivey in to help a bit with the ball handling.

I would also bench Hardaway and probably start Fontecchio.  Maybe Thompson if want more defense.  Hell, pick a random fan from section 124 if you want.

A lot of talk about starting lineup changes after JB's "starters need to be ready to start" comments from last game.

I agree about the Ivey/Beasley switch. Here's the starting lineup I'd roll with:

Cade
Beasley
Thompson
Harris
Stew

Get your two best defenders in the starting lineup. Spacing is about the same as before, maybe better if Thompson's small sample size 33% is to be believed and if Stew gets back to taking a few more. Let Ausar be the DHO hub in the same way you used Duren and get him into that Draymond role. He's a better passer than Duren, has a higher IQ, and can actually attack out of that spot far more easily to keep defenses honest.

That said, the org has to decide who they want to trade between Stew and Duren and start that person. The other is your bench Center when you bring in a legitimate starter, so you're not worried about hurting their value by benching them and you might as well get them accustomed to their forever role.

You keep Stew 100% of the time.  He has value if/when they make the playoffs.  Duren might actually lose value come playoff time since he will be aggressively hunted by other teams offenses.

Stewart is signed for 4 years at a reasonable price so I think you keep him for sure.

I don't know what we could get for Duren but I wouldn't trade him just to get rid of him.  I think his value is as about as low right now as it is going to get.  There is still an outside chance he develops into a good player.  If we are not going to get much for him, I would just keep him and then make a decision if he is worth a qualifying offer after next season.

I think the problem with Duren is that even if he does develop a bit you then are gonna have to pay him.

Has the makings of another Drummond situation so if we could find away to get rid of him now and not have to worry about that I would be all for it.

My uneducated opinion is that Cunningham has definitely stepped it up this season.  Yes, the turnovers are still an issue.  But the overall improvement seems t9 be there.

Turned over to the game after the football game. I was confused to see fieger law written on the court, maybe thought it was a home game. I was even more confused when I saw the Pistons were up by 16.

beasley is what fontechio was supposed to be.

not sure if the knicks took this game seriously.  sat KAT.  this is the type of game KAT thrives on: nonpressure against a bad team with a center (duren) who cant cover stretch bigs.

team scores 120 without deadweight ausar on the floor?  i'm stunned.  🙂

at this rate beasley might get us a first rounder at the deadline.

of course, we wont teade him because we really want to make the play-in game...  hooray for the 8th (or 10th) seed!
