Yeah, losing Montgomery isn't horrible imho. We have depth there in Gibbs and Reynolds and even Vaki. It'll hurt, but not as much as if it was a defensive starter going out. If McNeill and Davis AND Monty are all out there... that's just a bit more straw on the camel's back.

The running game is key to setting up the passing game/playaction where Goff excels. Gibbs is as good as he is in part to splitting duties, I don't see him being as effective as the feature back and in tight playoff games Monty is exactly the type of player to grind out tough yards not that Gibbs is a wallflower or anything but Monty is their tough yards guy. They're going to need to control the clock to protect the defense and a big part of their clock churning was due to Monty.

Gibbs actually has more carries than Montgomery and you can split Montgomery's carries between Gibbs, Reynolds and Vaki. Gibbs will be fine for the play action. He's like Barry Sanders in the sense that he's a homerun hitter regardless of if he's having a good game or not.

Can we please lock this thread before there are any more injuries.

Hope the injuries don’t start spreading to the fanbase.  I could deal with a broken finger or concussion if necessary, have had both. Broken jaw would be rough, could drink out of straw for awhile if I had to like my dad did when he got hit by a flying puck while standing on the players’ bench. But I want nothing to do with ACL.

The defense that played San Francisco last year is equal to or worse than the defense that will go into Chicago.

The defense that played San Francisco last year played well enough to make the Super Bowl.

The sky is not falling.

Without McNeil and Hutch this pass rush is considerably worse. I think this Defense is worse.

Lots of people jumping off the bandwagon at 12-2.   Pathetic.

The injuries are horrible, but I do think losing this game could be a blessing in disguise.     Forces them to take a long look at themselves.

Anyone who gives up on this team at this point is a fool.

Anyone who blames Aaron Glenn for anything is an idiot.

It's a loss.   This is the NFL.   It's not easy.

The two worries I had going into this season was we wouldn't avoid the injury bug again.   We didn't.

My other worry is that for the first time in my life the Lions are the hunted and that means other teams measure themselves at how they play against them and are more ready to bring their best game.

But I refuse to bail on this team.  Not with this coaching staff.   This team is as resilient as any sports team I've ever seen.   And also -- this is the start of our run not the middle or end.  This team is going to be very good for several years.

There's a lot of work yet to be done and they're going to have to MacGuyver this ****........and I think they certainly can.

If I could give five reactions I would. Such a pity party in here for a 12-2 team.

But add Reader... Arnold > Sutton... Moseley/Vildor > Vildor... Branch and Kerby are both better this year than they were last year by every metric. Same with Paschal. Levi is doing well too. Tyson Alualu of all people was a leading contributor on that defensive line in the playoffs.

Is it possible that this is the straw that broke the camel's back? Maybe. But 34-10 in their last 44, including playoffs, tells me that it's probably pretty unlikely that they just revert to mediocrity.

Onwuzurike has 30 pressures and 3 sacks on the season. He was a high second round pick drafted ahead of McNeil. He is in the final year of his contract. McNeil isn't going to be healthy by the start of next season. This is his opportunity to step up and earn a second contract.

setting up exactly how you would expect.  Bears getting routed and then will play their best game of the week next week and beat the lions. It’s scripted.
