I loved this guy and his stats in the early 60's were just ridiculous for low strikeouts by a home run hitter.  What an arm, he played left because Kaline was already in right.  That's the best pair of corner outfielders for the Tigers for the past 75 years, maybe ever.

Ernie Harwell just loved to say that name.

Three people here have mentioned that Colvito was their hero.  I just missed his career and wish I ddn't.

He was my aunt’s heartthrob as a girl. She was 10 when the Tigers acquired him, 13 when he was traded. Years later you could mention his name and her eyes would light up and she’d start gushing about how wonderful he was.

He seems like a JD Martinez type.... not a lot of time here and success elsewhere but the fans here really took to him and loved him.

He and MIckey Tettleton were the only two former players invited to the closing ceremonies at Tiger Stadium that didn't come.  I don't know if Rocky had a beef with the org?

IDK if he an explicit beef with the Tigers beyond that they were not a great org to play for in general, but I think his heart was always in Cleveland

I had an aunt like that too but she was born in 1911!  She and her friends would go on organized bus trips to Cleveland in the late 1950's to see games, it is about a 3 hour drive.

Maybe it’s because he’s more of a Cleveland Indian? He is in their Hall of fame.

Fun fact: Rocky is the only player in Tigers history to play 163 games in a season.

Yeah but others showed up too. Like Billy Pierce. I believe his number is retired by the South Side Chicago Ball Club.
