February 6th at 3PM ET.

Sam Vecenie wrote a trade big board.

NBA Trade Board 2024-25: Jimmy Butler, Cam Johnson and other rumored names on the market

He lists the top 30 guys that might be traded.  No Pistons are on it.

The top 10 from 1-10 (Bolded means he lists the Pistons as one of the players best fit)

Jimmy Butler

Zach Lavine

Cameron Johnson

Brandon Ingram

De'Andre Hunter

Bogdan Bogdanovic

Bruce Brown

Collin Sexton

Robert Williams

Dorian Finney-Smith

Thanks for posting this. Good stuff.

I think the Pistons biggest role in trades will be as a facilitator for other teams rather than a buyer of a particular top player. I know fans don't wants to hear that, but they freed up cap space for a reason and in the offseason Trajan talked a lot about taking on contracts for assets.

when is the next time the pistons can trade their first rounder?  2029?

2028 without restrictions.

They can trade this years right now if they want.  It will just have odd protections on it.  14-30 doesn't convey, 1-13 it does.

FWIW, OKC is a team to watch.

With the Caruso deal they are approaching the aprons and still need to extend J-Dub and Chet.  Basically, things are about to get very expensive in OKC.  With all the draft capital they have they might be looking to sell some off or trade it for expiring contracts to save money.

A lot, even more for Williams.  This years pick, two more later on, and Holland.  That still isn't enough.  But they are not trading Chet or Williams anyway.

De'Andre Hunter is interesting.  Rumored to be available for a 1st round pick and matching salary.  It would have some lottery protections IMO so that is a pretty nice price.

Good player.  If 6th man of the year was voted on today, he would beat Beasley IMO.  Shoots good, plays plus defense.  Mostly a SF but can easily play some PF.  Problem is, he is always hurt.  His sixth year and in the previous 5 he has never played more than 67 games.
