It takes quite an EFFORT to come down to Detroit from Traverse City with my wife and 10 year old for a handful of games each season.  Gas, lodging, food, tickets, souvenir's.  I am seeing zero EFFORT by Scott Harris and the Tigers to improve our team.  For this reason, we plan on staying closer to home and seeing our Traverse City Pit Spitters or a couple games with the West Michigan White Caps where we can come right home after the game.

Minor league games are great! We try to visit MiLB parks every year that we’ve not been to before.
Columbus, GA, Spartanburg, SC, and Knoxville, TN are all on the radar this year.

I used to love going to games and I live in Dearborn, the stadium is 15 minutes away from me.    But I understand.   It's so darn expensive now.   My workplace has tickets and they will offer them up sometimes in an email.  I can't go to weekday games (day or night) because of my work schedule.   If there's a chance weekend tickets are offered, I'll jump, but that's rare.

The games look great on my TV and if it's a stinker I can go get stuff done around the house, but realizing that going to a game is a hassle makes me feel like an old man.   I turn 60 a week from today, so  I guess I am.

I have probably something between a dozen and two dozen minor league ballparks, but I should see whether I can talk my wife into doing more parks we haven’t seen before. These three would be on the list.

I need to make a resolution to get to a few parks this year. I see Richmond is promoting John Smoltz for their opening day. My initial list would include Richmond, Norfolk, maybe Fredericksburg, Va...Salem and a possible stop in Lynchburg.

Durham always seems to be out of town when I have my Duke appointments. We stayed at the Aloft (?) next to the ballpark until their prices became outrages (compared to others a bit farther out).

I get the sentiment, but it’s way too early in the offseason to be making judgments. I will say this offseason should establish what kind of gm we can expect out of Harris/Greenberg. Personally, I like the drafting and player development so far and see glimmers on the international front. Trades and free agents so far seem cautious and particular.

I'm in Minneapolis and will go to aaa Twins games in St Paul when they play Toledo. It's a great stadium and atmosphere. It's where the independent league St Paul Saints (owned by Veck and Bill Murray) used to play

Agree—can understand wanting to avoid the commute, but don’t base it on the offseason.  We still have a foundation of a playoff team that was largely populated by rookies, who should only get better.  And it’s not like the rest of the AL has improved much (yet).  Most of the free agents and trade targets are still out there.

Those dang tourist from Illinois?

We have a home at the Homestead Resort (in nearby Glen Arbor) and Michigan license plates are now about 50%—tons of Illinois and Indiana plates, but now starting to see Pennsylvania and New York, too.  Our little secret up in Leelanau County is becoming more well known.

Great area. I miss northern Michigan...spent lots of time there in high school and college before leaving the State. Bob Seger at the Thunderdome in TC for like 3 bucks 😀

I guess you harken back to the good old days when the Tigers signed Javier Baez to that wonderful 6 year contract.

I just hated the teams effort when they lucked into the playoffs. If they had spent any money, they would have won the whole thing.

Obviously, you know better than Scott Harris. For my money, he's doing a great job.

i was living in Minneapolis when Target opened. Enjoyed seeing the Tigers there a few times. Nice park. Also liked being able to park at MOA and hop the Hiawatha (now the Blue Line). People in Det don't know what they're missing with the lack of  transit.
