We are Monday Night this week, so already National. I expect if Minnesota beats the Packers then Week #18 will be flexed to Sunday Night. There are two Saturday Night games too, but that would be a four-day rest for us.

I think Randy meant we'll be able to see the Viking/Packers game since it was moved to the national timeslot.

49ers are a good lesson in why we need to enjoy every second of this season, and of this era of Lions football. It can come crashing to the ground very quickly.

The Niners a mess, owe a lot of people a lot of money, and I'm not sure Kyle Shanahan will survive a rebuild.

It’s a shame that San Francisco’s season has been derailed with injuries. That can be hard for a team to overcome.

It's also an age issue. They're lucky they found Purdy in the draft. A team with a QB, TE, and receivers but no running game? It should be a beat down. Time for a little payback. 😆

Brad Holmes probably won't waste three 1st round picks on Trey Lance.

Might not need a rebuild.   Maybe just more of a reset.

49ers also gave up a lot of draft capital for Trey Lance and Christian McCaffrey. The Lance thing was obviously a debacle and for most franchises it could've been a 5 year killer but luckily for the 9ers they hit on Purdy and had enough talent on the roster to with stand that...atleast for the immediate future. But eventually stuff like that catches up to you and I think it is now.

As far as McCaffrey, certainly not saying it was a bad trade but the 49ers gave up a large portion of their 2023 draft for him, which along with already giving up their 2023 1st in the aforementioned Lance trade essentially meant they just forfeited an entire draft.

Again that type of thing may not show up right away but eventually they always do and I think we are seeing that now.

BTW this is why I was reluctant of making an "all in" trade, if you can get somebody that will be in their prime for the next several years then sure. But I don't want to give up draft capital for a 1 or 2 year guy, in the NFL you always need to churn out young talent and you get that by of course drafting well and you need picks to draft well.

But the Rams also traded a bunch of high round draft capital and they keep rolling along.    Because they can draft better in the 3rd/4th round than many teams can in the 1st or 2nd and that's the system our GM comes from.    Whatever they're doing with scouting and evaluation, it's working.    If I was looking for a GM for my team, I'd be looking for someone in the Rams or Lions organizations.

The Niners kind of got lucky.   They overspent for Trey Lance, who is a bust but then turned around and got their starting QB with the last pick of a draft.    But how good is he?   The Niners are in a very tough spot here.  Brock Purdy is going to want high end QB money, and I am not sure he's much more than Daniel Jones.  He was put into a great situation with lots of pieces in place and a great head coach for a QB, but I just don't think Purdy is a 40 mil a year guy.

I think what's happened with the Niners is several years of long playoff runs have put extra mileage on their players and it all caught up at once.    Bowing out early this year gives them more time to heal for next year, where they could be really good again.     So they need more of a reset than a rebuild, at least for the next year or two.   This has happened, to a lesser degree, to the Chiefs too, but they have weathered it much better.  Kind of helps when your Tackle false starts and never gets called and the league wants Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl every year.

I’m guessing the nfl wasn’t expecting the last MNF game of the year between the lions and niners to be completely meaningless and a glorified exhibition game. I know they will play their starters, but after the half sit Goff, st brown, Gibbs, ragnow, decker, branch, Kerby and Campbell.  Playing any of them is foolish.

13-2 and it comes down to a must win in week 18 to have a home game in the playoffs.  **** off Vikings. We will take care of it ourselves.

NFL is an embarrassment.   A team is gonna finish with 13 or 14 wins and start on the road against a 10 win team.  Absolutely unserious league.

So technically the Vikings are now in the 1 seed since they lead the Lions by a half game.

Yeah, that could actually make a difference. If we lose to SF, the Vikings would win the division, and the bye, with a win OR tie. After we beat SF, the Lions would win the division, and the bye, with a win or tie.

sorry if this is repetitive, but I find this completely bonkers.

except for losses to each other, the only losses by Det-Minn-GB were by 4 division winners

Det - TB, Buff; Minn - Rams; GB - Philly.

I think that record will hold tonight.

What a division!

(And the Bears were looking at a decent season until the Washington Hail Mary.)
