Week Seventeen: Detroit Lions (13-2) @ San Francisco 49ers (6-9)

St brown was wide open for the first down.  Incomplete to LaPorta instead.  This game is a morale buster for this team. Defense being absolutely cooked and offense feeling like they need to score 10 every drive.

So the 49ers get the ball before the end of the half and will have an extra possession in the 1st half. Deferring did not gain them an extra possession.

This defer strategy only started a few years ago. Teams used to always take the ball. Some old ways are better....

Still a chance to get the ball back.

That's pretty much the game right there. The 9ers will 3-4 more possessions minimum, so that's another 21-28 points at least, and they might hang 50 on us. This defense blows so hard.

I don't know that one way is better than the other, but to be so adament about it, is weird.

The defensive line looks surprised when they actually get pressure and don't finish anything. The secondary just looks gassed.

On the bright side, since the Lions never lose back-to-back games, next week is a lock if this game trajectory doesn't change.

you cant expect them to compete when half the defense WASNT EVEN IN THE LEAGUE a week ago.

the fact that they are 13-2 is a testament to the coaching staff and the offense.  the defense isnt an nfl caliber team.

its a dam shame that it has to end this way, but no team can survive what the lions have gone through this year.

Well, there's some common sense involved. Your defense has problems so you don't want to expose them and play from behind. If a team has a top defense, I could see it.

Could end up being a good tuneup game for Minnesota 👍🏻
