Just so the Vikings couldn't gameplan for whats coming for them on Sunday night. Everything the Lions do will be a surprise. Glenn and Dan have sandbagged the Vikings and have them thinking they can score at will against our defense. The result? Lions 34 Vikings 17. Vikings were worse than I thought and hoped. Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 (edited) Washington reminds me a lot of Tampa from last year. Not the most talent in the world, but a good squad capable of winning a playoff game. Capable of winning more than one playoff game, if you let them. Detroit would probably enter that game a touchdown favorite, similar to Tampa last year. They’re probably my preferred opponent out of LA, Minnesota, Green Bay, and them. MichiganCardinal Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 This was the first playoff atmosphere that it felt like really made a difference. Stafford and Mayfield both persevered through the noise at Ford Field. Darnold did not. He was rattled by the atmosphere. Which is awesome. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 For all the good a bye week brings, how much do you want to bet Dan Campbell has them practicing in pads on Wednesday? I bet he goes as physical - if not more physical - than a normal game week. Quote
papalawrence Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I live in Minneapolis and am surrounded by Vikings fans. Most of them, even diehards for decades, did not see this Vikings team as a 14-2 team, and most have been waiting for Darnold to get rattled in a pressure game. Quote

We knocked their starting QB out of the game with like 1:15 to go, Carolina was on their own 7 yard line or something like that and they ran that same Weinke to Proehl play 5 times in a row - same exact play and I think they missed on the throw once. It was the biggest angry sports meltdown of my life. I ****ing lost it. Watched it at a bar and when leaving punched a dumpster and somehow did not break my hand. My friend looked at me and said "Jesus, Do you need to go to the hospital or something?". He was talking about my emotional state, not my hand. When the Celtics stole the inbound pass vs the Pistons, I just collapsed in sadness, but that Lions game. Oh my. Second place might have been the Calvin process game and third was Crowell not getting out of bounds. Idiot. Batch had played a great game too. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Just coming here to check, because I may have been hallucinating (even though I was sober), but did I dream that? Did 31-9 actually happen? Was that real? Are we alive? What's going on here? I don't know what to do with my hands. I mean NO TOUCHDOWNS. Quote

Our defense was worse than a wet paper bag last week. I assumed it would be 30s or 40s for both teams. Seems pretty clear now that defensively they were preparing for the Vikings and viewed the 49ers game as just a pit stop. The defense showed up BIG time. Quote

Aaron Glenn proved me wrong and then some today. These players silenced my doubts. Glenn coached the game of his life tonight. I'm 100% with you here. I thought the injuries on defense would just going to be too much for them to overcome. I still felt the Lions could win, but only if the offense put up massive points. Very happy to be wrong. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted January 6 Posted January 6 With the 12th Pick in the 2023 draft, the Detroit Lions select Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama WHAT THE HELL ARE THE LIONS DOING ? With the 18th Pick in the 2023 draft, the Detroit Lions select Jack Campbell THAT IS SUCH AN OVERREACH Brad Holmes, I will never ever ever doubt you I mean, this is so damn stunning. Just four short years ago we were totally hopeless with the worst head coach in team history, a coach the players HATED. First year with Brad & Dan we started 0-10. Gave up a 66 yard Field Goal. Head Coach cried in the presser. Some people clowned him for it. The players knew it was genuine. I've felt that - when you give every ounce of yourself to something and it goes badly and you feel like you're on karma's bad side. Now this is the start of it. This team isn't even peaking yet. If they have a healthy Hutch and some more support rushing the passer next year....they could go undefeated. That's how good they are. It's incredible. Quote
Hongbit Posted January 6 Posted January 6 What a win! What a team! This defense showing up and proving they can stop a strong offense bodes very well. It’s not going to have to be the offense winning shootouts every week. This is going to be a tough team to beat. LFG Lions! Quote

Light workouts only starting Wednesday and into the weekend. Quote

Motown Bombers Posted January 6 Posted January 6 This was the moment this franchise changed and shed the same old Lions label. Quote
