Great throw. You have to watch it a few times before you see how hard he got rocked. But it was a big time play.

Collingsworth was really pushing Goff's physical courage to keep standing in and making the throw he knew would be there knowing he was going to be hit. It's maybe the most 'intangible' of all a QB's intangibles. Every great QB has to have it. The ability to block that hit out of your mind and complete your process is a heck of a talent.

He made a bunch of those yesterday but the one to Jamo on 4th down was an incredible throw under immense pressure. Goff had a few jittery moments but he made some deadly accurate throws under pressure that few can make, a few to LaPorta and St. Brown in the second half in particular and the Vikings were bringing a lot of heat.

This game was a story of 2 QBs, one couldn't handle the pressure while the other could. Both defenses brought a lot of pressure.

"Fully" sounds a bit interpretative, which has a tinge of subjectivity to it. Or maybe I'm wrong there.

I want him in there if he's 100%. Will he be 100% healed in a smidge less than four months? Do these kind of severe fractures heal that quickly for guys in their mid-20s? Especially two in the same general area?

I fully believe that Hutch is done for the season and it's just a lot of wishful thinking. It just seems rushed and I don't think he'll play unless he's 100%, coach won't allow it.

I think teams were waiting for the "real" Darnold to show up, and we may have just seen it. It would be hard for me to commit to Darnold for a top of the market contract. I would franchise him, and if he repeats what he did this year, then I would give him a big contract. His full body of work includes all the years before Minnesota.

But this year he showed what he can do with good coaching and a better team behind him. Those dysfunctional Jet years shouldn't be held against him. Teams could do worse than to have him under center.

Guys in their mid-20's? Maybe normal guys but Hutch puts more pressure on the leg than "normal" guys do. I would worry about pulled muscles and such with a player who has had a 3 month layoff. Gotta be smart about it and think about his long term health.

Rewatching the game and props, big props, to Brock Wright for hustling after Gibbs on a big run he busted in the 4th quarter with 9:26 remaining. Gibbs fumbled at the end of the run and Brock showed some heads up play and hustle with his recovery. Pretty huge play.

And the Pistons are .500 !!!!   Unreal.

It’s January 6th and the Lions, Wings and Pistons have all kept their New Year’s Resolution to NOT LOSE. Meanwhile tons of people have already resumed smoking and have stopped going to the gym.

This is amazing commentary.

Agreed! That Twitter account has calls of several big plays by the Vikings announcers. I like them. They don’t go into a monotone when there is a play that goes against their team, like some announcers do. Here are a couple more good ones:

I have followed this account for some time. They are what the prime time national audience deserve. Instead we get…. Chris Collinsworth.

I’m going to send that to some friends of mine who are not Lions fans but who know it is a great story unfolding. Look at the faces of those fans. Perfectly captures the mix of joy and yearning.

They were complaining about a play as it was going on. Crying their guy was being held. Did they comment on all the delay of game penalties that were ignored? Homers...
