I aplogize if I hurt anyones feelings. When I saw the guy being called a racist and making fun of his religion while holding a Bible as the first reaction that did not sit well. Anyways moving on.

My adult daughter has multiple needs. She's deaf, struggles with spectrum issues, disabled. She is able to enjoy a level of independent living through Medicare and SNAP. This is a life we cannot provide her; it would break us within a year. The difference is that our daughter has a family to care about her; too many of her peers' families have long ago forsaken them. As parents we fully apppreciate the expense Medicaid provides. Any waste or fraud only takes from those who most need the aid. This is not how to make a system better. This is pulling the plug - literally, for some - on life support.

The question is not what sort of political move this is.

The question is whether this is the sort of society we aspire to be.

Some argue Medicaid isn't a right. But it is the right thing to do.

With this administration, cruelty IS the point. My younger sister is in a similar boat, and I don’t know what she’s going to do if this is stripped away.

We will never get to Mars on Elon's timetable if we keep coddling our least productive citizens who would otherwise be building his space ark.

I wondered what the Medicaid budget was and KFF said it was 880b (coincidence??) In 2023.   Would this be basically 100% cut?

Expand

The 880b is over 10 years, so it's just a devastating cut, not a complete elimination.

Except for the 10% of people no longer covered or the medical providers reimbursed further below cost.

FYI, he can be covered under both before he's 26.  With Medicaid as the primary and your insurance as secondary or vice versa.  There are things covered under Medicaid that aren't under traditional insurance.  Going forward, who knows.

Yeah he’s got both.  For prescriptions it doesn’t do much. It’s one of the other.

Death panels are evil, the government should not get to decide who dies.   But here me out..... Life panels, where the government decides who lives.  Pretty solid concept, right?!?!  </thoughts from a MAGA>

I’d much rather have the option to decide for myself. That used to be the American way

Ironically, Republicans would unironically maintain that by taking government out of your healthcare, especially government health insurance, it is actually you and no one else who gets to determine whether you live or die.
