I just asked my Congress Critter the same basic question. Why did he vote to cut Medicaid while cutting taxes for billionaires. Especially considering a larger number of constituents live in Virginia's Northern Neck. The Northern Neck is the eastern portion of the state between the Potomac  and the Rappahannock Rivers. Culturally it's similar to the Thumb in Michigan. An area that relies heavily on farming and subsidies like Medicaid. That's essentially his back yard.

I don't expect to hear from him

This article is about the state legislature, but .....

A state representative on Tuesday introduced a resolution urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn its 2015 decision making same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.

In a brief news conference after the House session, state Rep. Josh Schriver, R-Oxford, said the high court's decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, “defaced the definition of marriage, undermined our God-given rights, increased persecution of Christians and confused the American family structure.”

any dem who joins the censure vote for Al Greene needs to be primaried.

MTG and Backseat Bobbitt get to howl and heckle Biden with no repercussions. But let a black man stand up, all hell breaks loose among MAGA. Decorum in the House was lost the moment a Supreme Court Justice mouthed You Lie at a Black President

I feel a bit for our Senators, who by use of the word “Congress”, automatically get lumped together with the hundreds of unprofessional, unqualified, unproductive Representatives.

The Senate has plenty of issues but it’s miles ahead of the House when it comes to competence and respectability.

Listening to The Bulwark just now and Tim Miller had a woman on from the org "Run for Something" and their take was that the Dems should recruit people for every open election across and up and down the ballots because this electorate will vote for any Dem because 2026 will be a massive wave.

Remember who won the primary when Ted McCotter lost his job.  Just a weirdo who raised reindeer.

Be the weirdo...

Congressman Steve Cohen on Bsky

Quote

Imagine you're a Republican.

You control the House, Senate & White House.

You spent 9 weeks sucking up to Elon Musk and gutting vital programs. Your "mandate," you said.

You draft a budget alone, without Democrats. Everyone hates it. Your own party can't pass it.

And now it's Democrats' fault?

Schumer, after going public with a Senate Dem commitment to stop the CR, reverses course. I will let others argue the merits of letting the gov shut down vs taking a bad bill and letting the public steep in the GOPs priorities, but I will not accept that it was anything but bad strategy to announce a policy you find yourself walking back so quickly. If the possibility of the dems blocking the CR was real, Schumer never needed to say a word about that publicly. If the votes were actually there in his caucus he could have kept that leverage in his pocket right up until the vote, while leaving his options open for his members to take the temperature in their states and spike the effort if it wasn't playing well back home.

There's a part of me that think's that Schumer isn't made for these times... having said that, if Harry Reid were still alive and still in charge, he would be providing zero votes for this effort. And he'd do it with a smile.

Too many of these guys think it's 1993 where you get together after hours and have a drink and sort it out.  GOP plays dirty and the dems thing it's still gentlemanly.

The Democratic party is so out of touch.  They're a bunch of spineless pussies.  They aren't going of help us out of this mess.  The people will have to do it themselves.
