True - at least not in the sense of what the normal rational person would call 'qualifications'. You certainly have to meet the bar on a number of criteria to be appointed by Trump, the rest of us just don't recognize any of those criteria as relevant to the jobs they are being put up for. 1 Quote
Motown Bombers Posted March 27 Posted March 27 In my continued trolling of my congressman, I started calling John James Justin James. I remember when he ran against Gary Peters, they called him Jerry Peters because he supposedly was an anonymous senator. John James is nowhere to be found in this district. Quote

This presidential thing is a weird zone for many people. In last bulwark pod, Annie Karni's reported on Nancy Mace that her mind went to sludge when she heard a rumor that she was on the short list for VP and she went beyond MAGA to affirm her place in the Trump orbit. Considering the political landscape and the way it's trending, she might have to. I'm a white cis man who has voted for people of color and women for president, and will again, but I ain't gonna lie, I'm nervous if anyone but a white cis man comes out of the primaries. Not because that's what I want to see, because it truly does not matter either way to me, but because not having exactly that will always cost votes on the margin, and that could be the difference between winning and losing. oblong Posted Tuesday at 02:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:30 PM I will get physically angry if I start seeing people discuss turnout and all the other numbers ahead of the vote counting for these elections tonight... yeah we saw that in November that it doesn't mean jack ****. Just wait until the votes are counted. No photos of "long lines" and all that crap. 2 Quote

Unfortunately the state of play in a state with 15 electoral votes hasn't been much comfort for Clinton or Harris. Still a big hump to get over in the red states. Seems like a different century when Claire McCaskill was elected in MO. There is still a glass ceiling at the presidential level... Edited Tuesday at 03:48 PM by gehringer_2 Quote

Harris did slightly worse than Biden. If Trump got the same vote total in 2020 as he did in 2024, he would have narrowly beat Biden. Harris got the second most votes ever for a Dem. Trump manages to find these first time voters. Quote

I think you could make a fair argument that objectively Harris was a better candidate - ran a better campaign in 2024 than Biden did in 2020. Hard to separate that fact from all the other baggage/garbage etc. We keep blaming our candidates, the fault is in the voters. Edited Tuesday at 04:04 PM by gehringer_2 1 Quote
