oblong Posted Tuesday at 04:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:19 PM 'most vote' metrics don't matter because in terms of a trend line the voting goes up. roughly 20-30M more people voted in 2016-2024 than voted in 2008-2012 so naturally the individual candidates will get more votes than their predecessor. Also one of the reasons Madison and Hamilton (and company) originally set up the Electoral College. They didn't want the general voting public to have a direct say in the election of the Chief Executive fearing the choices the "rabble" would make. Quote

Well, Plato's Republic was probably required reading for any educated man of their day. 1 Quote

As well as Rousseau, Locke and Hobbes. I doubt anyone in the current administration has any clue about these individuals 1 Quote

Just wait until the votes are counted. No photos of "long lines" and all that crap. The only thing I will say is the fact that I saw a TV ad for FL-6 the same day Stefanik's nomination was pulled tells me it's not going to be a 30 point race... Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted Tuesday at 11:18 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:18 PM (edited) Cory Booker is about 5 minutes away from breaking Segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond's record for the longest filibuster in Senate history. It's great to see a black man break that bigots record. Edited Tuesday at 11:19 PM by Mr.TaterSalad 2 Quote
smr-nj Posted Tuesday at 11:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:24 PM That was an emotional last hour by Booker. The record by that klansman is broken. I am so proud of my senator. 3 Quote
Edman85 Posted Tuesday at 11:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:35 PM Story I may have told here once, but in AP Government in HS, a classmate and I fillibustered class for a day and a half, and the teacher allowed it until 60% of the class voted against it. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted Tuesday at 11:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:42 PM Looks like the Republican will win the Florida district, but a massive over performance by the Democrat. Quote
oblong Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM Was this a filibuster by Booker or just a speech? I thought the latter. Quote

Tigermojo Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM I can't imagine the preparation it must take to do something like that. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM You have to be in good physical shape to do that which means Trump could never do it. Quote
