'most vote' metrics don't matter because in terms of a trend line the voting goes up.  roughly 20-30M more people voted in 2016-2024 than voted in 2008-2012 so naturally the individual candidates will get more votes than their predecessor.

it sort of makes sense - it the same fear Socrates had 2500 years ago: as voter participation grows, the electorate gets dumber.

Also one of the reasons Madison and Hamilton (and company) originally set up the Electoral College. They didn't want the general voting public to have a direct say in the election of the Chief Executive fearing the choices the "rabble" would make.

Well, Plato's Republic was probably required reading for any educated man of their day.

As well as Rousseau, Locke and Hobbes. I doubt anyone in the current administration has any clue about these individuals

I will get physically angry if I start seeing people discuss turnout and all the other numbers ahead of the vote counting for these elections tonight... yeah we saw that in November that it doesn't mean jack ****.  Just wait until the votes are counted.  No photos of "long lines" and all that crap.

The only thing I will say is the fact that I saw a TV ad for FL-6 the same day Stefanik's nomination was pulled tells me it's not going to be a 30 point race...

Let me guess, if it was a pro Republican ad, it was something about transgenders?

Cory Booker is about 5 minutes away from breaking Segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond's record for the longest filibuster in Senate history. It's great to see a black man break that bigots record.

Story I may have told here once, but in AP Government in HS, a classmate and I fillibustered class for a day and a half, and the teacher allowed it until 60% of the class voted against it.

Those things matter as much as "best shape of his life" and "working on fundamentals" in spring training.
