So after Booker's marathon Senate Democrats voted unanimously to approve former Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker as Ambassador to NATO.

The least they could have done was to unanimously oppose the nomination along with all future appointments

She (Sears) is a nutter too.   You can drag a few of the crazies over the finish line when you are popular or you are winning in a message against the sitting president (Biden), but in Virginia after this first few weeks of the chainsaw wielding dork destroying the careers of their friends, neighbors and peers and going after the social safety net...yeah, she has no chance.

There are likely 4-5 serious Democrats getting into this Michigan Senate race. Mallory obviously being one of them. You'll also likely see Congresswoman Haley Stevens, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald-Rivet, and Dr. Abdul El-Sayed run. Attorney General Dana Nessel is rumored to be looking at running, but I think she's 50/50 at best, where as the other candidates more certain to run.

Escambia has a lot of federal employees.

Plus, the Republican won, so stop with this moral victory **** already. They don’t count.

I called John James office this time. I got in touch with a woman and said I was calling to do a welfare check since I hadn't seen nor heard from John James in a long time. She read a script about how he's working hard for the district. I asked if she could send a proof of life like a picture of him holding today's newspaper. I then said if his whereabouts are confidential, he can message me on Signal. The conversation kind of died out after that.

The results in Florida or more than just moral victories. They follow a trend where Democrats have been overperforming by 15-20. That would mean a huge blue wave. +30 districts were never realistic. That's why Trump picked them and pulled Stefaniak's nomination.

If the WI result means a redistricting plan that nets a couple more seats, I'll take that as progress enough for one special election night. One thing the GOP has been a lot better at is patience for the long slow slog.

Jonathan Last had in interesting take on Booker's speech yesterday. One that is worth repeating and sharing

Different people will see different things, but to me Booker’s performance reads clearly as an act of Christian witness.

He did it during Lent. He fasted for days ahead of time, preparing his body for what was, in essence, an act of spiritual struggle. He spoke against authoritarianism, but not the authoritarians. He spoke of his own failings and the failings of his party. He fixated on forgiveness. He loved his neighbors while gently, but purposefully, insisting on truth.³

This touched me in a very deep place. I have become used to seeing Christianity co-opted and perverted in America to the point where it has been largely subsumed by the political project of nationalism.

The experience has been painful. Booker’s testimony was a balm.

The whole piece is worth a read

It's going to make his opponents fear him a little, which is a good thing maybe. There is nothing the dissolute fear more than the person who exhibits the level of internal discipline that Booker has demonstrated.
