When you see your best friends intestines laying 4 feet in front of him while you hold his hand and he cries out for his Mother hits different.

Seriously Dude, Thank you for your service. Yet you voted for and are defending a guy who doesn't give a damn about you or your friend. In fact his father bought him a false doctors certificate to get out of the draft.
He's mocked guys like your friend for being stupid for enlisting.

But Biden

You voted for Biden and also Trumps pardons.   You should sit this one out given that disastrous record, which is uniquely and objectively the worst in this forum.

I don't know what this means - but good night and good luck.

Heading out to enjoy my night in DC. Gonna start by checking on my brothers at the check point by my hotel. America is back and I am so happy to be here to partake in it.

Let’s see, Trump doesn’t put his hand on the Bible which probably impresses the phony Christians who think that’s a smart move, he pardons 1500 seditious January 6 rioters who tried to overthrow an election he clearly lost, and Elon Musk gives Nazi salutes while supporting the far right party in Germany which, according to Adam Kinzinger, a Republican former congressman, “Literally is a neo-Nazi party. Not even joking.” And it’s only day one. Hope any of you who voted for this are happy.

Popular vote, check. Electoral College, check. Every swing state check. I guess America is full of heathens.

No, I think there are lot of people who didn't lke either candidate.  They are struggling financially, so they voted for the other party hoping for something better.  In normal circumstances, I think that is fine.

I am disappointed that Americans don't understand what a horrible person Trump is and always has been.  I get why you don't lke Harris.  I get why you don't like liberals.  Your jerking off to Trump is pretty embarrassing though especially since you know better.

Dude entered office with a 46-48 favorability per 538 today. That's... Lower than his first term.

I've beaten this horse to death, but what Holic says can be true with what you have said above being true as well.

The disconnect is that Trump fans don't want to acknowledge your point because it would require them to acknowledge that a lot of his proposals (such as tariffs and pardoning J6 criminals, among others) are pretty unpopular, and that he won in spite of them, not because of them

Oh yeah my uncle was a brick layer who was part of building it. Tony Stewart used to run in that race for new years under a fictitious name as to not draw attention.

Yep, that's the place. Tony Stewart has made quite the name for himself.

I want our resident Trump voter or someone to explain to me how 25% tariffs on Canada, a country where we get 60% of our country's crude oil from, will lower gas prices or home heating prices?

just for accuracy here, Canada supplies about 60% of the oil we import (~8mbpd), but the oil we import is only about 40% of what we use (>20MBPD), so we import about 25% of the crude we use from Canada.

Otherwise your point still holds 100%.

All the gory details you would ever want are at EIA.gov

Yeah, I didn't put in important context there in my post. That was my fault as I misrepresented it as we get 60% of our overall oil usage from Canada. Thank you for the correction.

The there’s this…

As official festivities get under way, Trump takes office with a high rate of public approval. According to a new CBS News YouGov survey, 59% of Americans approve of how the Trump-Vance transition has been handled, with 55% either happy or satisfied that Trump won the November election.

————-

Polls are what they are. I have no idea which is correct.

Not the same questions - also what does "Satisfied he won the election" mean. I am perfectly satisfied he actually won the election in the sense that I don't doubt he did, I am not at all satisfied that he is president. Which question was being asked/answered, or was the ambiguity in the question deliberate? 🤔

There are also likely people who are satisfied that he won the election who don't like Donald Trump and chose him as the lesser of two evils. (EDIT: or as you suggest, voted for Kamala even)

CBS YouGov (I read the crosstabs yesterday after Holic shared them) conspicuously DID NOT ask a question  on favorability, which is what I'm talking about - I suspect that number would be lower.

Now, once they go out and take approval polls now that he's in office, we'll have to see how that goes.

They are two very different questions.  Being happy that he won the election does not mean they approve of him, just that preferred him to the alternative.

Probably not a large group, but there probably are even a few that voted for Kamala that are satisfied with the outcome (insofar that they may not have strong feelings one way or another, perhaps)
