Maybe they see Canada as being the cute girl who needs to be rescued from the swarthy worldly people she’s starting to hang out with.

They want to mate with the ethnically pure Canadians like the Germans did with the Norwegians. A modern day Lebensborn program.

which is also bizarre since Biden's economy was gangbusters for them all. Greed knows no bounds apparently.

Then maybe it’s about more than just the money for the oligarchs. Maybe it’s also about the thrill of controlling people’s everyday lives at a granular level.

Yes. Exactly like Joe Biden.

You mean the Joe Biden you said, not 24 hours ago, lost the elections at every level for the Democrats because he was pulling the party too far left? That Joe Biden?

What if someone's view are so far left that they don't support either Democrats or Republicans?   For example, there are a lot of people, especially young people, who believe that we are doomed if we don't make drastic changes to combat climate change.  They think that no other issues matter and neither Democrats nor Republicans come close to addressing the issue sufficiently.  Why should they "get in line" when there is no party to line up behind? Regardless of what MB thinks, the Democrats are not entitled to those votes.  Everybody's vote is their own and no party is entitled to it.

The Dems certainly are not entitled to anyones votes, but they can determine how much effort a group is worth in obtaining.  The dems chose to push DEI ideas championed by the far left.  I know of countless examples that even my democratic voting friends felt went too far, but the dems felt it was important to court those far left votes that they downplayed any DEI concerns.  Do those hard line DEI supporters think we're better off now?

So yeah, if climate change is your thing and the Dems aren't doing enough for you, I guess vote MAGA and let's see how that works out for you.

With Biden I don't know if he was done in more by his own policies than by his inability to be out there as an energetic advocate and explainer. He left the stage too open and it was was easy for the opposition to focus on democrats whose priorities are less attractive  than Biden's.

Why does he want Canada if it's full of cartels? He doesn't say he wants Mexico as the 51st state.

Guessing it's an issue about controlling natural resources and places that will have the longest 'runway' when it comes to the effects of changing climate - even if it is a Chinese hoax.

Biden (and Harris) were done in by inflation more than anything else. Maybe Biden 10-15 years younger could have better explained or campaigned despite it, but it was gonna be a tough road for any D in this environment

Yes. You keep proving my point. Joe Biden courted the far left and they abandoned him. If the far left didn't abandon him, the country would be moving to the left. Leftists have this weird idea that by losing elections we will move left. Democrats are going to stop chasing that voter and move to the right to get voters who vote.

Harris didnt run on pro DEI whatsoever.

You continue to express “what the left thinks” or “what the left wants”. Speak for yourself, not for others you don’t have a clear understanding of.

I was working off the example provided of someone who didn't think either candidate was doing enough for climate so what should they do. The answer would be to vote for the guy who did the most for climate.

Certainly the right didn't want student loan debt canceled. It wasn't the right that wanted caps on prescription drugs. It wasn't the right that wanted Medicare to negotiate drug prices. It wasn't the right that wanted to reschedule marijuana. It wasn't the right that wanted funding for green energy. It wasn't the right that wanted to pull out of Afghanistan (or maybe they did). It wasn't the right that wanted historic funding for HBCUs.

Adding on to this, as somebody who majored in ecology and is definitely an environmentalist (and left of center on many other issues): sometimes you have to mutter to yourself before taking a deep breath and voting for the candidate less likely to reverse the protections that are in place. And believe me you're right that it ain't MAGA.

The only thing I‘m proving is that you said the Democrats lost the election and the government because Joe Biden was moving the party too far left, and then 24 hours later you said we need to elect more Democrats so they can push the party left.

Yes? Biden moved to the left and lost due in large part because the left abandoned him. If the far left wanted to move the party to the left, they should have voted for more Democrats. I said he should have never tried to appease the far left, because at the end of the day, doing things like canceling student debt proved to be unpopular and the left said it wasn't good enough.
