Well, now the friendly and personable demeanor completely leaves, and he stammers something about wasting his time. I ask him for five things he accomplished last week. That's when he ended the call.

Yeah, changes in material consequences matter, especially given that Trump won with 200,000 votes over three states.

I've actually seen multiple people break with him IRL over Ukraine as well, which has been sort of jarring. People don't respond kindly to feeling like they've been stabbed in the back

I would think sparring with Canada and this ridiculous on off on off on off tariff would work against King Trump, too.  If the tariffs are enacted, steel and aluminum are going to affect everyone in some way.  But who knows, I cannot fathom he was elected again given his history, so what do I know?

I think MAGA will trust him on the tariffs, but not SS.  They probably see tariffs as good for America, but take away money which they think belongs to them and they won't like it.

That's pretty funny but kinda rotten to a salesperson who's just trying to make a living. Unless he/she is an ignorant MAGA fan, then it's FAFO.

They may trust him up front with the tariffs, but the consumer will ultimately pay for it with price hikes.  Grocery prices aren't any better now then when he started this term, and that was one of his main selling points.  So not only are prices not getting any better, they're going to get worse.  But hey, if it adversely affects his own cult base, too, spreading the pain to everyone is probably better than just attacking his enemies?

Even if prices drop, a huge increase in unemployment means nothing will be affordable. Those tarriffs are going to destroy the auto industry. New cars are already too expensive, if they go up $9000 on average, it will mean massive layoffs. And that will affect more than just auto workers. Stores, restaurants and the entire economy will be hit hard. But, OK MAGA, the country exporting the goods pay the tarriffs, right? Wrong...
