US will get eviscerated in a global trade war because other countries will use their smartest people to navigate this. Trump will only use people who are loyal to him.

When the US was the world's leading manufacturer of everything coming out of WWII, we were the indispensable nation in any trade system. But that's long gone. Asia is the manufacturing center of the world. The rest of world can put together a perfectly prosperous trade regime without the US, and now probably will.

We are headed for an economy rooted on special pleading and exceptions due to insider sweetheart deals and outright graft.

In other words:

Trump is trying to turn our country into Russia because he wants to "BE" Vladimir Putin and bilk billions and billions of corrupt dollars into his own pockets. For life.

Oh, and he also wants to execute reporters who say bad things about him.

Just like Vladimir Putin.

Out of context text from coed beach vb teammate today "I have a pair!"

Made me worried in 2025, somebody could intercept texts, and have her booted from the league for a text about sand socks.

What I would like to see, is...

The door slammed in this Admin's face. In Trump's face, in his "advisor's" faces.

"It's Trump on the line? Hang up. We won't speak to him until his tariffs are dropped. You can tell him we're busy making deals with other countries, but not America."

I would love to see Trump's reactions if/when multiple other countries REFUSE to even speak with the U.S., while they are cutting deals with other countries. I can see him blowing his gasket and his eyes popping right out of his head...

Nobody wants to talk about it, but given that we talked about it endlessly with Biden, we should be talking about it with Trump as well: he's getting older. He's never been a particularly intellectually curious or, frankly, mentally stable person,  but the base case is to assume that all of these traits are going to be enhanced as he ages and as he begins to slow down mentally (which, people avoid it, but is very likely happening).

It reminds me a lot of my late grandmother.... it literally took her driving the wrong way down a four-lane divided highway until she got the keys taken away and ended up in assisted living. Trump is the POTUS version of this right now.... and absent the GOP finding their balls (I will be calling my rep's DC office and yelling today), I don't see him losing the keys anytime soon.

I'm just now seeing this clip from yesterday, but this is up there in the pantheon of stupid defenses of bad policy decisions.

Expand

And it's not even an actual defense, since prices on domestic products will rise to fill the new price gap created by dramatic increases in the prices of foreign products.

The only thing that might delay that some is a honeymoon period in which domestic products do not rise yet, which will immediately trumpeted as a triumph for the American consumer, and then as soon as the next horror takes over the news cycle, the prices will unceremoniously increase, and then when the media finally notice, Biden policies from years prior will be blamed.
