Pete Hegseth, who is neither qualified for the job and who has a documented history of drug and alcohol abuse,

The thing I don't get is why the Trump supporters aren't more upset about these clearly incompetent picks. Look at every administration that was ever able to achieve its goals and the accomplishment is directly proportional to the quality of the top tier of people installed. Trump is basically a solo operator, he just wants people to direct so he doesn't care if his picks are independently able to initiate in their roles, but even after holding the job once he's a fool, because the job is way too big for one man be at the center of everything that needs to be done, especially one as allergic to hard work as Trump. So he is basically guaranteeing the ineptitude of his presidency. The only things the Trump admin will pay any attention to are the things that get all the way to Trump himself, and that's pretty much a recipe for a government >95% on autopilot. For those of us who believe Trump is more likely to damage than fix anything he touches, that's actually fine, but If you voted for him I don't know why you'd be happy about that.

Alcohol is a drug, isn't it?

1) I don't think most hard core Trump supporters care all that much about the issues deep down. It's mostly about entertainment value at this point (as tedious and boring as the show is)

2) A feature of Term 1 that will not doubt roll over into Term 2 is the concept of normal, non-fanatical people being fed chicken**** mixed with shards of glass in it and being told it's chicken salad. Happened all the time the first time around and, lo and behold, it happened today with Pete Hegseth

Pete Hegseth's bit about dust on his boots is interesting in light of Mattis, Esper, Miller and Austin his immediate predecessors back to Ashton Carton (who was a civilian through and through).

I used to use the line "unless you've felt the weight of the rucksack on your back, you don't know" which is rhetoric used to win an argument in a college dorm but doesn't tell you anything about his knowledge of the PPBE, the JCIDS and Acquisition Process which was put in place over time to prevent the kind of graft that the Trump admin is planning.   I learned about this during my first real job out of school while working in the Secretary of the Air Force's office for Acquisition and its bizonkers complex.  I ran screaming in the other direction as soon as I could.  My good friends who i work with in my softball league run joint programs with the US and UK to build nuclear submarines which has been built over several decades of careful diplomacy and stakeholder management, and another is a finance specialist with the Navy who works ship building programs and he's convinced that all the hullaballoo about delays in US shipbuilding are 100% the fault of the failure to budget consistently because of Congress playing games.

Yeah, dust on your boots...good luck rummy.

Btw since youve decided semantics is your passion, he didnt speak it, he typed it.   At least get the basic facts straight with your passion

Given the new found penchant for not mispeaking semantically, guess who tends to so that a lot?  Drunk people.

Just more hypocrisy.   Higher standards for an internet commenter than the guuy running the pentagon.   Typical maga.

1) Doug Emhoff was neither running for office or trying to be confirmed to lead one of the largest federal bureaucracies

2) If he was, Holic's guy Markwayne would undoubtedly find his morals again and be singing from a different song book. So spare me the 'hypocrisy' horse****
