romad1 Posted Wednesday at 01:47 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:47 AM At some point you have to think a judge uses this as evidence that the Executive Branch is overreaching its authority. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/02/25/trump-covington-burling-jack-smith/ Quote

mtutiger Posted Wednesday at 12:10 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:10 PM 9 hours ago, Tigeraholic1 said: Fantastic! Democrats? Woof Of course this is the same bill that would slash Medicaid funding, which hospitals rely on for a lot of their cash flow and which finances something like 30-40% of births in this country. Funding that if slashed would bankrupt families and would likely cause hospitals to have to cut staff, if not close entirely in some rural areas. And you think this bill is a positive outcome??? 2 Quote

mtutiger Posted Wednesday at 12:33 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:33 PM This thread from Rep. Casten (from the Chicago Suburbs) outlines why their Medicaid cuts would be devastating in practice and why they are trying their hardest to keep their intentions hidden as much as possible in this process. The bullet point list he gives for why it affects even those (like all of us I assume) who don't use it is spot on: Families have kids with physical and mental disabilities, and unless you are uber-wealthy, Medicaid is very likely going to be utilized to allow them to live a life of dignity. It's used to cover nursing home expenses. Especially for those without family to look after us, we maybe would need to rely on Medicaid to help finance the costs If you live in a rural area and rely on a hospital system which takes a lot of Medicaid patients, cutting Medicaid would result in worse care and/or hospital closures (this is one I harp on a lot because it's the likeliest biggest direct impact to my life should it go through) Slashing Medicaid will lead to less usage of preventative care services and force more people to utilize ERs, which are already overcrowded as it is. To quote @Tigeraholic1, woof.... 1 Quote

Motown Bombers Posted Wednesday at 01:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:58 PM My father has dementia and is getting to the point where he will need 24-hour care. With cuts to Medicaid, I don't know if that will still be an option. At least those trannies won't be playing in girls' sports. 1 Quote
