yup - the problem in housing is on the supply side. The intention to increase housing starts was a good one, but there was not much 'there' there about how to do it. There has to some relief on code and yes  -even ADA req's. US building codes have gotten pretty ridiculous - they have become largely a rent seek for specialty contractors,  and it's a big reason it's not profitable to build less expensive housing.

Newsom has talked a lot about this in CA, but not too many others.

Unless what you’re really saying is that you are here only to vent, and as such you don’t make serious comments on the political forum, so we should not take what you say seriously and should not respond to it as such, which, I think you understand that’s not how this forum works.

Sorry to be such a bulldog on this point—I’m kind of an Asperger‘s guy, so I’m hard-wired to be like that—but I’m generally very focused on trying to understand what people mean and trying to make sense of it. That’s where I’m actually coming from, not from a position of trying to hammer you and trip you up, although I acknowledge that they can look like the same thing a lot of times.

I think that, in general, a fairly substantial number of voters got tired of hearing about DEI being shoved down their throats all over the place and that got tied to politicians, deservedly so or not.  Even a dummy like Trump was able to see that and he jumped on it running campaigns around racism for 12 years.  There was a chance for a politician on the other side to counter that with some kind of intelligent nuanced view on DEI, but all they did was add to the problem by hammering Trump and his followers for his bigotry.  That didn't help.

I don't doubt it.  I have lost a great deal of faith in our country the last several years.  he might as well make the nobel prize worthless too.

it's a weird deal. Nobel set it up so most of committees were Swedish, but not for the Peace prize. That committee is chosen the by the Norwegian Parliament.

I do unfortunately think you're right. 

It's frustrating that so many people think it's inconvenient to learn to treat people with consideration and respect regardless of background, but here we are.
