CMRivdogs Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Gas prices are up about a dime a gallon here since just before the inauguration. Mostly because of the cold snap and "storms" here on the East Coast most likely. From reports I've seen oil producers are expecting prices to rise a bit " because of policy decisions by major producers and governments" C'mon let's be honest, we're not serious about this we're mote than willing to be manipulated by special interests and, political headwinds and Diet Coke highs. Plan accordingly. 1 Quote

That was part of the record number of immigrants deported by the US in 2024 - 271,000. Now the MAGA moron will have ICE wasting time deporting a guy with a speeding ticket instead of people charged with violent crimes. So f****** stupid. Quote

They are also freeing up resources from other departments that don't deal directly with immigration (such as DEA) to focus on immigration as well. Which in turn makes dealing with laws that fall under other department's purview harder to combat or enforce. You are correct, none of this makes us any safer. Quote

Since Elion Gonzalez was deported, Gore came within 500 votes of winning Florida, Obama won it twice, and Hillary did well in Miami-Dade and Biden only lost by 1. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted January 24 Posted January 24 here a good recitation of the MAGA moron's stupidity in his first term regarding immigration. this is all intentional, yet again. chaos chaos chaos. https://www.c-span.org/program/house-committee/hearing-on-immigration-enforcement/654780 Quote

They can still plant around windmills if they wish. Solar farm are getting more popular in rural areas here, especially since most of those that own the property are getting older and don't or can no longer put the effort into planting things like soybeans and such. Or their offspring have moved on, and can get mote $$$ renting the fields than they can trying to sell. Most local residence here would almost prefer the solar farm to more subdivisions, rental warehouses or strip malls with empty buildings Quote

CMRivdogs Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Trump to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas....Next hurricane, you guys are on your own Aaron Rupar @atrupar.com Follow Trump: "We're looking at the whole concept of FEMA. I like, frankly, the concept when North Carolina gets hit, the governor takes care of it. When Florida gets hit, the governor takes care of it. Meaning the state takes care of it ... I'd like to see the states take care of disasters." Quote

Farmers see a source of additional revenue, we all benefit from secondary sources of energy, it's hard to see the downside exactly. So yeah, Trump can speak for himself when he goes all "we don't want _____" Quote

pfife Posted January 24 Posted January 24 We did a trip to Joshua Tree and flew into Phoenix and drove to California. There are miles and miles and miles of solar panel farms along that route. It was extremely impressive. I have no idea whether the locals there hate the or not. Quote

A lot of conservatives in high-output ag states like Illinois or Iowa see solar farms as a waste of productive agricultural land.... it's not entirely wrong, but on the other hand, farms are generally outputting way more product that can be marketed domestically and we export a massive amount of corn, grain, other commodities. And these farms, which on average (at least in Illinois) are around 50 acres, are generally smaller than subdivision and new housing, for which there's far less controversy when they overtake productive agricultural land.. The opposition to windmills, of which there's little footprint to speak of, is even more mystifying. Edited January 24 by mtutiger Quote

Solve an issue with an abundant resource we already have while at the same time, addressing the trouble with Medicare. Medicare isn't that expensive if people die before they get to it!!! Win win for all, except those with the black lung. Quote
