I delivered for Meals on Wheels circa 2010 when I was out of work. It was basically all old people who could barely make it to the door. It was also for some their only contact to the outside world. I had to do amateur health checks and report any health issue I may see.

Well now with the federal grant defunding pause those seniors won't need to worry about getting their meals since Trump and the Republicans are defunding Meals on Wheels. The party of pro life.

Meals on Wheels is more than just hot meals. It was a chance for someone to visit seniors and check on their health and safety. There were occasions I had to have an ambulance come. I had one guy with a nasty infection in his eye, another who was having a pulmonary embolism, and another who was past the point of being able to live without supervision.

I should also mention I was up north when doing Meals on Wheels in the heart of what is now trump country. Lots of seniors used Meals on Wheels there. A lot of them where off the beaten path. This effects red rural areas.

My girlfriend delivered for them for years until about 4 years ago. She had to call the cops to do a wellness check on someone she hasn’t seen for a while. This person was found deceased.
