RandyMarsh Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 (edited) That 2018 draft is a painful reminder of just how tough it is to find and draft the right qb. Some pundits were hyping it to the 83 draft in terms of qbs and so far it produced 2 huge busts in Darnold and Rosen and a mini bust on his way to being a true bust in Mayfield. On a positive note it did produce two All Pros in Allen and Jackson but even Jackson wasn't really seen as the top tier heading in so out of the 4 guys that were 3 ended up busts. Jim Cowan Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 That was a big disappointment for me, taking Mayfield and his chip on his shoulder, so soon after wasting time on Manziel. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 I don’t think Mayfield is that bad. I even think he’s slightly better than Goff on any given Sunday, though not by much. Certainly not enough to overcome the baggage that would come with him. And certainly worse than whatever QB I would hope the Lions take to be the next face of the franchise. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do well somewhere though. He’s only a year removed from putting up 48 points on Pittsburgh in the wildcard round and nearly beating the Chiefs to go to the AFC Championship. Quote
buddha Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 mayfield was hurt last year and was terrible. healthy mayfield was pretty decent. dont want him now. too expensive. Quote
Jim Cowan Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 He's not a good enough player to be so adversarial with beat reporters, and to have such rabbit ears on social media. He had some 40 point games but good grief I should hope so with that O line, that backfield, and Landry. The front office got tired of him and his immaturity. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) Pride of Detroit: Detroit Lions re-sign former 1st-round pick Jarrad Davis Edited March 25, 2022 by Mr.TaterSalad Quote

Motown Bombers Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 I'm actually kind of intrigued in what Glenn is going to do with Davis. He was a good blitzer so maybe they are looking at him being a pass rusher. They basically loaned him out to the Jets for a 6th round pick and probably signed him back for less than what the Jets signed him for. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 It's probably another one year deal, so in the long run of building this team, it is likely meaningless. If he turns into a rotational pass rusher, which Patricia refused to use him as, then great. Quote

The Jets found out thee same that we saw here with Davis. He runs well, tackles poorly, and doesn’t grasp the mental part of the game and is often out of position.
